Yeah, I think most of us "haters" want Flota to be great. That's what would be best for the organization. But the fact is we have 4 years of evidence that he's not. Sure he's had his moments. But sadly "inconsistent" and "unreliable" are the defining adjectives of his career thus far.

Yeah he's better than VY and Locker. Big freaking whoop. He still hasn't been anywhere near what I consider to be "franchise QB" level. People wanna pay this dude 100+ mill? The guy who has been injured nonstop and threw 11 total TDs last year. No thanks.
 
The fact we’re this split in year 5 tells you all you need to know. At first I discounted the reports of it being a competition. But after they keep coming out, it’s harder to discount it. It’s so frustrating cause we know MM8 can do it, we’ve all seen it. But it has to happen more that 3-4 times a year. It’s that simple. Anything less than 30 TD’s (with the weapons we have) and it’s time to move on. You can’t give 100 million to a qb that only plays like franchise QB 3-4 times a year.

LOL 30?! If he hits 20 or more, stays injury free, and limits int’s to under 10 I’d be in for the extension bro.

Those would be fair numbers. You are saying those numbers are worth 30mil a year when chances are probable that he can't sustain those numbers?

To pay a qb 30mil a year and get locked into that QB for the next 4-7 years, I would have to have more than 1 season. And it is too late for more than one season of just above average numbers.
 
If he's on pace for 20 TDs after what we've invested in the players around him, he'll be benched.

Just so people know, we have a QB on the team who has thrown for over 4,000 yards and 27 TDs in a season. Why extend or play a lesser QB?

why would chances be probably that he cant sustain them? same team, same playbook, chances are he would easily sustain them. if anything he would do better. if you have a capable qb you keep him, rotating QBs is a surefire way to suck ass in the NFL. and miss me with the patrick mahomes bs. mahomes is on his own level.

No matter what mariota does this season is tough to see extending him at 30+ mill a year. However if he has a good year with 20+td and less than 10 int we should extend him for 20-22 mill a year.

Dak just turned down a 30mil a year contract. If we extend Mariota, that means he is going to be our franchise qb, he will want franchise qb pay. It is the number 1 reason we have to move on from Mariota. We cannot get locked into him being our franchise qb, because he simply isnt good enough.
 
Some of you are acting as if 30 TD’s is an unrealistic line in the sand. It’s 1.8 TD’s per game lol. I’m not asking him to go be Pat Mahomes, I’m asking him to be slightly above average lol. No more of these 135 yard, 0 TD games. Can’t be a $100 million man doin that.

I would argue he does that even on the days his stats are mundane. You F3s (Fantasy Football Frogs) look at stats instead of watch games. An argument about the continued slow starts is 100% legit. Just no reason Titans cant get out of their own way till midway 2Q

Oh best believe I WANT Mariota to flip the switch and play well.

But I'm also realistic.

I waited the last 2 seasons thinking... "any week now, he'll turn the corner. He'll start playing like he did in '16."

It probably isn't happening. I think he has a lot of issues and most importantly- I don't think he wants to work on them. I think he's conceded defeat so he's just going through the motions til he goes to another team.


He doesn't seem to have any heart. Can't fix that.

And even if you could, I doubt he would. See: his footwork and unwillingness to put time in the film room.
