Nobody is disputing that there are other issues. But you guys have been blaming the crap offense on head coaches (been through 3 in marys tenure) OCs (been though at least 4) weapons (been through a bunch) and line (been through a bunch).

At a certain point, you gotta look at the constant.

If Mary can only thrive in ideal conditions, he won't hack it in the NFL. Ideal conditions do not exist.

While i don't disagree with the last point, let me ask you this.

Which of any coaches or OCs have we fired (outside of LaFleur who wasn't bad just inexperienced) have flourished once they left? What WRs and/or RBs flourished once they left? Almost single person we've gotten rid of has been trash everywhere else. The argument was never "Marcus Mariota is elite" the argument was if you can protect him we can win. In games this year when we product him we drive the field and he looks good. There are only about 4-5 QBs in the NFL that can thrive in such a mess of an offense. Mariota isn't off-limits for criticism, EVER. But keep that same energy for when: the whole OL gets beat, the WRs that run poor routes, the DL not being able to stop the run, the special teams units, etc.

On that same note, can the Mariota Minions give the same amount of criticism to Mariota that they give to every single thing else from the owner all the way down to the ball boy? They can point out every single mistake of every single player on the team except for Mariota. When Mariota makes a mistake, no matter how blatant... yeah but because it was Xs fault.

Fixated on Mariota for you

Contrary to belief, mostly everyone here including Vondy & Dave have been critical of Mariota when deserved, most of you guys just want straight bashing which is stupid. It just blows my mind how many people don't understand how our offensive system WORKS. We are a run first, play action passing team. Mariota thrives when he can play uptempo and use the play action. We can't use the play action if we can't run, and we can't run if we can't block. Marcus has a couple games he's been shaky, but our OLine hasn't been consistent since Ben Jones broke his foot & Jack tore his ACL. People complain about consistency from the players and forget that it starts with consistency from the front office down, and we haven't even had that. 5 OCs, 3 HCs, multiple different position coaches, in a 5 year span is not good. For ANYBODY. Then throw in severe injuries and this is what the result looks like.

Couple of games where he's been shaky? Please. Try three or four seasons of ducky to mediocre play with the odd good game thrown in there.

Cite a season outside of 2008 in the last 2 decades when we've done better.

Bueller?

Exactly....So why embrace it? F that. .500 sucks.....Especially with what the front office has done to help get us above it. Couple of big wins isn’t getting me all excited.

I've been a rabid supporter for 20+ years.

I speak for myself, but I have had enough. I turned the channel before halftime last week, and that's a step back from buying season tickets and maintaining a PSL.

I dumped mine 8 years ago and haven't looked back. In retrospect it seems to have been the right decision.

Im not here to defend Marcus, but more so what the front office has done to help this team get above .500?

Besides win the 3rd round lotto and get a elite Safety and ask for a new and improved lunch room.

I just want a competent offense. That's all. Our games are damn near unwatchable and have been for years regardless of who the players or coaches are. There has to be someone out there somewhere who can figure out how to develop a good game plan, improvise when necessary, and get the right players to execute the plays. I am tired of having a shitty offense with no clear culprit or fix in sight. There has to be somebody out there somewhere who can CORRECTLY evaluate the situation and find the right players and coaches to fix it. Until this team shows some consistent sign that they have turned the corner in that area, I am not wasting any more time watching these games. I'll just check the score from my phone while Im out doing enjoyable things.

Odd good game? Take the blinders off.
Maybe poor choice off wording but I think you can understand he means the rare good game.
I mean really 1, arguably 2 of 5 games this season can be considered good and you can never know when that 25% chance is gonna land.

Actually, when the line is good Marcus is good, when the line is not, hes bad. It's not really hard to see. Would you like a QB to be good when the line is bad? Absolutely, but dont act like it's all unpredictable.

Bro...They brought in a whole new staff...bookend tackles...multiple draft picks...a whole new secondary via FA and draft...plenty of assistance. To say they haven’t is silly. Multiple seasons of signing free agents (Saffold, Wake, Ryan, Butler, Murray, Vaccaro, Humphries...etc). We haven’t capitalized...that and Mariota sucks, coaching sucks, and boom.

Blame the line, MM or both but their “good” or “bad” games are unpredictable. I’d add the DL/pass rush success also is.

Edit: I’ll also argue there are plenty of games going back to last season where the OL was fine but MM sucked. So far this season, every “bad” game has coincided with the OL struggles. Probably mere coincidence but who knows, maybe the OL will block a game this season and MM will prove my point.

And you're 100% correct about last season, but I guess some of us take nerve damage in the throwing arm more serious than others.

18 QBs were pressured at a higher rate than Mariota last week. There were just a few really bad reps which people like to cherry pick and blame the failure of the offense on. The plays in which he had opportunities, he did little to nothing with them, and really hasn't all year with the exception of a few which also included excellent efforts by the supporting cast. Even against the jags, there was only one sack in the entire first half when he went 6 for 16 and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, so it's tough to throw the OL under the bus. He was horrible against Indy and that loss was 100% on him.
