We need two elite pass rushers any way we can get them, as well as one or two elite level cornerbacks. Then re-sign the key players who made this work.

And then you wake up from your dream and start thinking about what we could realistically do...

My dream draft would be edge and cb in one and two. a kicker return man who can be a deep threat. A kicker.

Are there any big backs that can catch in this draft? I would love being able 2 give Henry a breather and still be able to pound the defense.

Naji (sp) Harris from Bama?

Depth with the rest of our picks. This is assuming we keep tanny, henry and conk.

I never said it was realistic, but to compete with the buzzsaw we ran into yesterday it is what we need. If KC can put together an elite roster, we should be able to as well. If we want to have chance at the SB in this division, we better.

This is not true at all. The players in the locker room were talking about how the Titans played 3 totally different schemes 3 weeks in a row.

We are all upset but these are knee jerk reactions. We were simply outmatched by one of the greatest offensive teams ever. Show me a team that has contained that offense, and show me a bad game Mahomes has had at QB. It just doesn't happen.

Pees tried blitzing, playing man, playing zone. We did all that and got beat just about every time.

it's not a knee jerk reaction if it's something I saw him do all year

Pees acted like it was still Lamar out there, he rushed 3 and kept 1 back to "spy", aka watch Mahomes complete a 20 yard pass because he had eternity to sit back and wait for someone to get open. I guess he forgot KC has a passing attack. Is it so out of line to think that collapsing the pocket around him has a better chance at working than letting him take his precious time and pick us apart?

weird concepts I know

Then I guess we won’t be able to beat KC...because we can’t do that. But we improve where we can. They have a ton of free agents, have to extend Mahomes, and have little cap space. They will have injuries. Anything can happen.

They are where they are because they hit on Mahomes big time. If we hit on MM in the same way we could do what they are doing. We have to work with what we have.

It was a good idea to try spying Mahomes. Not sure if you saw he was KCs leading rusher and converted multiple 3rd downs with his legs.

Peas didn’t coach that bad yesterday. Unfortunately KC was too good for the D to get off the field and the O couldn’t keep the ball away from Mahomes, particularly in the second half.

I said it in another thread that I wish he would have gambled with more blitzes throughout the game, but that would have also led to some more big plays for KC. No way to know if the gambles would have paid off.

When you commit more players to rushing the passer you have less players in coverage. Mahomes will pick it apart.

This was probably one of the quieter games Mahomes, Kelce, and Hill has all year long. And they still put up 35 because their offense is that good.

Go ahead show me a team who collapsed the picket on Mahomes and slowed down that offense.

I dont watch much college football anymore but if we could get him in the 2nd or 3rd I would be all over that. Doubt he lasts that long. We would have go dp something like trade our 1st and 3rd for 2 second rounders to get him and the edge and cb we need

because we only sent 3 to try and pressure him, and a 4th guy giving him 5+ yards of space taking bad angles

if you put 3 guys to try and stop a RB it isn't going to work.. why do we think it'd work vs Mahomes if he's already showed you he'll run for 10+ every time

But you just pointed it out right there, the spy failed. Not the idea of the spy, but the player either didn’t perform or was the wrong guy.

Personally what I saw was a continuous approach of collapsing the pocket rather than the approach used against Jackson to spread it out to force a much further outside run or selecting the correct lane up the middle but a spy to avoid.

The difference between stopping a RB and Mahomes is pretty obvious. Mahomes had maybe 1 designed run, every other run was a pass att turned scramble. His arm is much better than Jackson, peas attempted to keep more guys in coverage for that reason and the faster WR/better WR/TE.

Edit: guess it doesn’t matter anymore anyway.
Titans DC Dean Pees Announces His Retirement

Man over-reaction Monday. We played a crap game yesterday but doesnt mean we blow up the team.

Our FAs (In order of priority)
1. Resign Henry 4/60 mil 45 guaranteed
2. Resign Conklin or Kelly (Pick one because we are not keeping both) Conklin prolly be 4 yr 40 mil
3. Resign Tannehille but do not break the bank
(3 yrs 65 mil)
4. Resign Ryan (3 yr 30 mil)
5. Resign Pruitt
6. Resign Firsker

Cuts:
1. Walker - Love Delanie but the injury took the rest if his career. He needs to retire.
2. Lewis - Completely ineffective at his cost.
3. Succup- Injury was worse than we all expected got to let him go

FA:
I dont see us doing much other than signing a few depth guys for special teams. We have too many of our own that we need to resign and we wont have the money for a top edge rushing FA.

Draft: (Assuming all above has taken place)
1. Pass Russ OLB this changes if a top QB prospect happens to fall to the late 1st
2. RB2
3. WR
4. CB
5. ILB
6. DT
You forgot to cut Wake.
And are you letting all these guys walk?
Correa, Sharpe, Bates, Sims, Jennings, Brock

Signed RT, Henry, Conklin, Logan, Correa, Pruitt, Firkser, and Sharpe.
Cut Dion, Delanie, Wake, and a few scrubs with no dead money.
Leaves us with 18M and 13 roster spots to fill.
Say 7 players at a total 7M in the draft, leaves us with 11M to fill 6 spots. We should be able to do this if we want and roll out the same squad next year. Just won't have much room to add any impact free agents.
But the continuity and growth we will see plus adding in the draft picks should make this already good team a real contender.

Hardest player to let walk was Kelly, but no chance we get both he and Conklin back.

I signed RT at 20M/year for 4 years with an out after 3. If he wants much better than that, we should franchise him and draft someone.

I'd keep Wake because he was out most effective pass rusher before he was injured. Even if he is just a situational guy 3rd down guy he gets to the QB. I forgot about Correa and Sharpe but to me those a depth guys and unless they come back on team friendly deals they can be upgraded.

Brock, Bates, Sims, Jennings can all be replaced in the draft with cheaper higher upside guys. We also have Walker from Georia that we drafted last year coming back as well and he may take Correas spot but I was pleased with how Correa played the last 6 or so games.

Wake is way over priced for what he offered. (3 yr, $23 mil, $10 mil guaranteed)

He played in 9 games with an avg of about 20 snaps per game. He got 2.5 sacks, all in the opener against Cle.

He offered nothing really outside that game plus he’s 37/38. He needs to go. He wasn’t the fix for pass rush anyway.

Correa is a depth guy and so is Sharpe. I’d love to keep them both (in that role) if possible but reality is, some people have to go.

I think Brock, bates, sims and Jennings would all be really cheap to keep. I’d be ok keeping all them, they quietly do pretty well.

I doubt we keep Logan Ryan.

Overrated and overpriced....
ps, the above post is typically the mindset.....”so he’s really not very good ( I would argue he hasn’t been for 3 seasons) but we like him....
PFF has him as the 24th best interior defender this year out of 113 qualifiers.

He’s going to the Probowl.

Clearly you’re the only one who thinks he’s bad.

Biggest needs:

QB
RB
Pass Rush

As of now, we don't have any of those for next season .

Funny, at THIS moment all we have is Logan Woodside and Dion Lewis in those respective positions. Scary.
