Grigson was a huge bust of a GM. And what kind of argument is "he was good enough to beat us"? Lmao.

Luck and Hilton were obvious picks. Luck, Fleener, Allen, and Hilton, have all been at least solid NFL players, none of the late round picks made by Grigson had any NFL success. Luck and Hilton are the two main pieces of the Colts’ offense to this day, and were definitely great picks by Grigson. Grigson drafted two solid tight ends in Fleener and Allen, but it was a bit of a head scratcher to draft two tight ends so early in the draft. This was arguably Grigson’s best draft as the general manager of the Colts, yet only two of the players are still on the Colts, and only four of the players are still in the NFL. Newsome, Jackson, and John are no longer with the team, and were unimportant players in their brief stints with the team.

This was not a particularly strong draft by Grigson, especially considering the fact that he traded a first round pick for Trent Richardson.

Please understand that I said Grigson was a terrible GM.

Also, understand that I said Grigson wasn't the reason Luck retired.

Luck has been gifted a great OL and serious weapons, yet he still retired.

His retirement is unknown, therefore we shouldn't rush to judgement as to why he retired.

Grigson is an afterthought.

It's not unknown. He said himself that the injuries took a toll and he wasn't enjoying football any more. He also couldn't live the life he wanted to being beat up all the time.

He pulled a Jake Locker and his spirit was broken by the injury bug.

Can't say I blame him.. he's made plenty of money and age 29 he can retire healthy enough to live life.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him come out of retirement next season.

I have had a handful of surgeries and procedures and nothing came close to the labrum tear. The time before the surgery was awful. The time after the surgery was awful. 3 months of twice a week PT had me at 80% mobility. That is as far as they took it in PT, after that it was a full year after the surgery before I was back to 100% mobility. The strength loss was drastic and took another year to get back to even with my right shoulder. Granted, Luck had the best care possible and trainers etc. But it was still nasty, which is why it took so long to recover. After going through that, then getting injured again, I can fully understand. He has too much money to continue to sacrifice his body.

So Luck really only played 3 years post Manning. Letting Manning go must sting a little more now

They were fortunate to get Luck after letting Manning go.. (even if he wasn't as great as hyped up to be, he's damn good) But... It would be some wild luck if they get 3 in a row right...

Lucks retirement could really set the Colts back when it looked like they had "the guy" for the next 10+ years. Crazy

Unless they just go full tank mode, I dont think they will be picking a top QB. Their roster is much better than it was the last time Luck was out and went 2-14.

Either way, there isnt a "Luck" type prospect this year (thankfully they cant get Lawrence this year lol)

Even if they were somehow able to grab the top prospect... How many teams try that every few years and still haven't found a good QB?

How many teams have been lucky enough to pick the right QB 3 times in a row? ( I guess Luck wasn't really the QB everyone thought he was going to be though..mostly because of injury)

This is great for our chances of winning the division, but it sucks that we'll literally never beat Luck.

The timing of this seems very strange, is there more to it than his injuries?

You gotta figure his wife has been in his ear. Can't blame her.

Unknown? Yeah he just left 220M on the table for the hell of it? Yup, makes sense. Alot of sense.

Everyone worried about them getting another franchise QB needs to chill.

As long as Irsay is up there, the Colts aren’t going to make a serious run towards anything.

They shouldnt feel too bad. Manning was awful the year he won the SB with Denver. Denver won despite Manning, not because of Manning.

Yes unknown.

Luck came from a great background, Stanford educated and has made millions upon millions while in the NFL.

Luck leaving millions on the table doesn't shock me at all, considering he's not flashy and probably doesn't care about future earnings at all.

Whether he retired because of his physical injuries or because he doesn't have the passion to play another down in the NFL, you, nor I will never know.

Therefore I'll label his retirement as "unknown" for right now.

I'd bet anything he told the Colts weeks ago, but they asked him to delay his announcement so they could sell season tickets and he could have one last off-season tutoring Jacob....
