Yup Mary’s best attribute was always His YAC!

Perspective!

It definitely wasn’t. That’s why people were commenting on us finally getting plays like that....

Actual quote “while the Rb or WR runs for 3/4 of the yards is a completely asinine way to attribute his contribution to the play.”

KC leads the NFL in YAC so they must not stretch the field either. We should just take those yards away from Mahomes I guess Lololol

You missed the sarcasm. And the video.

We might be the worst franchise of all time when it comes to drafting quarterbacks:

2006: VY #3rd overall
2011: Jake Locker #8th overall
2015: Mariota #2nd overall

You can even make the argument that McNair was above average for most of his career.

Lots of horrible qb drafting franchises.

Jets... Haven't had anyone of note since testeverde?

Bengals... Dalton and palmer are the bright spots. Oy.

Lions... Stafford is mediocre, but far and away the best they've had in forever.

Miami post Marino is a poop show.

Raiders... Ouch.

Redskins... Oof.

Cardinals have had Jake plummer and Warner. They didn't draft warner, don't remember about plummer.

Tampa... Terrible.

But the worst has to be the browns. Just a never ending string of hideous draft picks.

I posted this in another thread but we are not the only team that does this. Most of the league goes through this. I’ll stick to the first 2 rounds despite ours all being firsts. I’ll also leave the last couple years out since they still are not prove. One way or the other.

2016: Goff, Wentz, Lynch, hackenburg
2015: Winston, Mariota
2014: Bortles, manziel, bridgewater, Carr, garrapolo
2013: Manuel, geno Smith
2012: Luck, RG3, tannehill, weeden, osweiler
2011: newton, locker, Gabbert, ponder, Dalton, kaepernick
2010: Bradford, Tebow, clausen
2009: Stafford, freeman, Sanchez, pat white
2008: ryan, Flacco, brohm, henne
2007: j Russell, brady Quinn, kolb, beck, Stanton
2006: VY, leinart, Cutler. Clemens, t Jackson
2005: Alex Smith, Rodgers, Campbell
2004: Eli, rivers, Big Ben, losman
2003: Palmer, leftwich, boller, grossman
2002: Carr, Harrington, Ramsey
2001: Vick, Brees, Quincy carter, tuiasosopo
2000: Pennington

64 QB taken first/second round since 2000. 15 lasted 5+ years on the team that drafted them (23%). Pennington, Vick, Brees (I’ll give him benefit despite less than 5 with SD), Palmer, Eli, Big Ben, rivers, Alex Smith, Rodgers, Ryan, Flacco, Stafford, Newton, Luck, tannehill.
Goff looks like he may just be the next Alex smith/Bradford of the league. Clearly of those 15, not all were considered “franchise” QBs as they still traveled (Pennington, Vick, Alex Smith, tannehill)

Point is, most teams swing an miss. There’s also a bunch of late round picks that worked out better (or at least as equal)
2000: brady, bulger
2004: Matt schaub
2005: orton, Derek Anderson, Cassel, Fitzpatrick
2010: colt mccoy
2011: Tyrod Taylor
2012: Russell Wilson, cousins, Foles
2016: Brissett, Prescott

Plummer was drafted by ARZ

Add broncos -signed Plummer and manning but only draft is cutler
Bears - grossman, trubisky
Bills - losman
Ravens got Flacco, Lamar Jackson remains to be seen long term
Chiefs before Mahomes
Jaguars
Texans before Watson
Dallas before Prescott - Romo was undrafted
Eagles after mcnabb
Saints signed Brees as a FA, drafted poop
Vikings best QB since culpepper was a Favre return
Rams Bradford/Goff since bulger

Drafting THE QB is possibly the hardest thing to do in the NFL.
Part of the reason I’d never agree with a team tanking. It guarantees nothing except maybe a shot on a low QB draft to reach for a QB.

25% who you draft, 75% how you develop. Franchises that have proven to develop players get at least something out of their picks before they move on from them. When players have the same weaknesses they did in college then whats the point of having position coaches, or a development staff?

Teams that try to change QBs always fail
Teams that adapt to their QBs strengths succeed

In the short term maybe. Long term, qb has to read a field and make the right decision consistently or he fails. Good defenses will take the running and half field reads away.

There are so many QBs regressing that something's wrong. On Monday night Darnold threw 4 interceptions and fumbled. However the Jets love their Darnold. Their salivating at the mouth to have him. Mariota throws two for the entire season and gets benched. Titans hate their Mariota. Their salivating at the mouth like a vicious dog.

We fans should hate this coaching staff. It certainly has regressed since Mularkey. The defense is not what it use to be. Our franchise QB is now a sub. The organization hired a greenhorn who is busy shoving a block in a round hole. How disgusted should we be with this organization?

When will we shrug our shoulders, throw our arms up in the air, plop to our knees, droop to the ground and shake our heads? Enough is enough already.

The poor players look like they're in boot camp taking orders from a drill sergeant. Can a board look any stiffer? God blessed Mariota, all he does now is look at his watch and think about that trip to Acapulco. He's wearing that Titan's cap proudly. Why not put them shades on, Marcus? You may as well put that straw in your mouth and have a margarita.

When are the owners gonna learn that a QB and play caller are to go together like a hand in glove? Fine QBs are regressing all over the NFL.

Darnold has only 1 season under his belt... I don't even think he played his whole first season.

This is a big reach.

Eh, I’m not in love with the coaching staff by any means.
I’m not gonna hold them solely responsible for mariota sucking.

I'm on record for saying Mariota has had a rough go due to coaching changes in TN.

It's a fact, he has.

However, he's had plenty of time and chances to put it all together, and so far he hasn't. That's not to say he can't, but it won't happen in Tennessee, that is now glaringly obvious.

Tannehill showed us all what potentially the Titans can do on offense. Granted, it wasn't against a strong opponent, but it highlighted some of the talent on offense that has yet to be seen with MM under center.

I haven't seen enough of Tannehill to crown him king yet, but he definitely got my attention. I think we should ride it out and see how he plays. At worst if we lose it will at least be interesing. And for God's sake sign a kicker, triple-doink is a waste.

I am so fed up with Fisherball.

1. Quit saying "we." you aren't a Titans fan. You are a mariota schlong holster.

2. Blame the coaching staff? Which one? Mariota has sucked with three now.

3. Darold had a bad game. It's his second year. He's on a very bad team playing the best. Mariota has sucked for at least 4 years now, and gets worse every year.

4. Last year you blamed the tingles. Now he's healthy. He still sucks.

5. Of course he doesn't throw many picks. He doesn't throw much at all. He'd rather take a sack than risk a pick. He's gutless.

6. Please join your boy Mary quietly on the bench until we can ship you both off this off-season.

I just want a competent offense. That's all. Our games are damn near unwatchable and have been for years regardless of who the players or coaches are.

I have to say that even when we win I'm underwhelmed. I see nearly any other team play and they have athletes and playmakers making things happen on a fairly consistent basis, win or lose; I watch the Titans and it all looks like high school football to me. I always feel bad when I see other teams make a big play and I say "why don't we ever have anyone who can do THAT?!.... "

TitansWrath said: "Mariota has sucked for at least 4 years now, and gets worse every year".

Just because a guy is an OC with an NFL team doesn't mean he is the right choice. For four long years they all sucked.

Instead of placing blocks in round holes the Titans should have let Mariota decide.

For a couple years of appointing an OC for Mariota was proven to be a dud idea, Vrabel appoints two more and it was an asinine thing to do. He didn't know what he was doing and he got what he deserved. HIS FAULT! Mariota would have made a better selection perhaps Chip Kelly or Mark Helfrich or both. Then, if Mariota cut the cheese, bench him. But being benched by a head coach who appointed an OC is horse shxt. He's now clearly to blame for this team's woes.

I don't understand the logic behind what this organization attempted to do. We all wanted a winning team. We all wanted to know how good Mariota would be. Unfortunately muscle minded thugs had to have it their way and made a mess of things. They were clutces. Now we will never know.
