Tannehill is not the answer, he is just light years better than Mariota.
We absolutely need to draft a QB for the future. In the meantime if we can get Tannehill on a 3 year deal for under 12mil a year, I would sign him for 3 years, go draft a qb and start grooming our future qb while Tannehill carries us along.
Then we let him go. I am not saying he WILL sign for that, I said if he is willing to sign for that. If he wants more, we move on. We can't tie up all of our money on Tannehill AND a 1st round draft pick qb. That would be too much in one position. If he hits his escalators, which is far more likely now, he’ll get $12 million this year. He is going to want to be paid and he’s going to want something long term, in my opinion.
Then stick with the proven commodity in tanny or risk getting another mariota/locker/youngThen we let him go. I am not saying he WILL sign for that, I said if he is willing to sign for that. The nice thing is that we'll get quite a few games to see if Tanny can be consistent and stay healthy. Then stick with the proven commodity in tanny or risk getting another mariota/locker/young
I was already on the “keep THill” idea.
I mentioned it in another thread, keep THill as the vet for a rookie next season to sit behind. If he makes it the full year, great. The rookie got an entire year of learning.
If he only makes it a few weeks, great. Hopefully the rookie is ready to go.
Either way, provided his agent doesn’t aim for unrealistic goals, THill should get a very manageable 3 yea contract to continue as the vet starter/mentor backup for whichever rookie we get.
No matter what, move on from MM.
If that’s his route, then I guess we’ll be riding the rookie’s hand with whatever crappy bet is available. He is a starter and deserves to be paid like it
There’s like 3 QBs around the league that immediately came in and will be successful long term.Watching all these young QB’s around the league have some success makes me think maybe we don’t need to invest that much into QB. Three straight top 10 picks into QB and what have we got out of it? Maybe these teams just got lucky. But I know we could build a better team around a QB if we’re not investing huge contracts and high draft picks into QB. I’m probably just talking out of my ass, but more and more, I’m leaning toward rolling the dice on a young player and invest in the lines. So put me down for a no.
There was a guy who came in and was immediately successful. 3 4K yard seasons his first four years. 30 td seasons. That guy...RYAN TANNEHILLThere’s like 3 QBs around the league that immediately came in and will be successful long term.
If that’s what the league is going to, I expect them to get treated like RB very soon. You get til about 30 then replaced by some other new rookie.
So you’re all in on him just being the immediate future. There was a guy who came in and was immediately successful. 3 4K yard seasons his first four years. 30 td seasons. That guy...RYAN TANNEHILL
Build the d first. Line second and third. Bring in whoever San Francisco gets rid of (mullens, beathard) call it a daySo you’re all in on him just being the immediate future.
I suppose that leaves the first round available to upgrade G or C but I think you’ll stand largely only on this stance. Good for you though, stick to your guns.
Winnings grosss?Gross.
