Similar to Colts and Peyton Manning

Peyton was a HOF QB coming off a serious neck injury. No one knew if he could play again or how well.

Tannehill...just ran out of chances to prove his worth as a franchise QB.

Very different reasons and context!

Agreed. In two of his three successful years in Denver, he played better than in his previous year with Indy. His TD % was higher (more TD's), had around same yards, and lower INT %. And the other year he wasn't good, he was GREAT!!!

But...it was 3 years of Manning the Colts could have had...and maybe they would have won another championship with him one of those years. So the question will be, was Luck worth losing out on another SB ring?

In fairness to the Colts, no one even knew how well Manning COULD play coming off the injuries and the money he wanted was very high! Made sense to get rid of him and draft the next stud qb!
An AFC championship visit and set up for another handful of competitive seasons because of Luck? yea, I think it was worth risking manning and potentially 1 more SB with him was worth it.

Like they are going to suddenly announce a public QB competition when they've been actively refraining from doing so. If Mariota fails, it's on Mariota. If Tannehill fails, it's on them. We all know who they want to be the starter.

It's a conspiracy. Everyone is lying!! THE EARTH IS FLAT!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I don’t doubt for a second Marcus is the starter. The problem is, they don’t fully believe in him or his availability, which is where this comes into play.

No Sheet!! If they believed he was our for sure Franchise QB he would already have a new record deal.

Yup....but mention that here, and get ready to be crucified and labeled a “hater” by the obsessed pipe dreamers. Any normal and realistic fan would say something along the lines of “I’ll get behind Mary, and I know he can be great, but he needs to be more consistent, available, and put up better numbers to be considered great and or a franchise guy”.....It’s common sense.

Try again...

They aren't refraining from stating a public competition, they are publicly stating in every way that Mariota is the starter and Ryan is the backup. End of story.

And we have! And you and some haters keep saying ppl haven't said this. I must have said this 50 times!

Mariota and many other players will have to step it up to earn new contracts. End of story.

When you feel the need to indicate who the starter is, that speaks volumes as to your confidence in said starter.

I think in today’s media world, that’s not a given conclusion anymore. I bet the titans get asked daily if there is any possibility tannehill is moving up the charts because for Tennessee, anything other than “no”, is news.
