Yes and no. When you let your qb go into his last season without extending him first, that tells you all you need to know....he needs to earn a new contract this year. But in that context...when you bring in a longtime starter from another team...you do need to clarify the situation.

Then again, they did make it clear what their roles are from the get go.

I thought that we were going to discuss how awesome Tannehill was. Be sure to become familiar with the rules before bumping a thread next time, Vondy.
 
The same reason that they got rid of Suh, Landry, Quinn, and tried to trade Reshad Jones. The team stunk and they were ready for a new era.

Because, while he is quite a bit better than the qb we currently have, he is still not a good qb. Our qb is just really bad.
He definitely is not our future, just someone to be there until we replace Mariota.
