I'm not sure why you don't understand the concept. If a kicker is missing 30 yard FGs in practice, what would make him do better in a game? He should be hitting those without an issue, just like a QB should be making unpressured routine throws with no issue
Has there been unanimous agreement that Mariota is missing “30 yard FG”?

I would think Vrabel would want to be part of that decision.

So far I’ve seen nothing saying Mariota is playing poorly against no one in camp either, just the voice of “everyone”, Davenport saying THill is throwing better against no one.
So basically nothing anywhere has said anything to suggest Mariota is falling apart and a competition will break out.
THill will do the right vet thing, practice, prepare, say nothing, and hopefully play well after Mariota gets hurt, which will be after he starts the season as uncontested starter, which he is.

I’ve always wanted a good practice QB
I remember how surprised Fisher was after having a great week of practice to get beat down 59-0 in actual gameplay.

Practice man, we’re talking about practice. Not a game, practice.

Atleast with a good practice QB the receivers get to practice as well.... Might not help Tannehill, but certainly could help the receivers for the first time in years.

Cool and Tannehill is?
The same guy as Mariota.

Mariota used to represent hope to most people. That has worn off. Where is that hope going to come from for those people who have lost faith? From a guy they're less familiar with and hasn't let them down yet.

Tannehill is the new toy. The shine will fade eventually. Before you know it we'll have two toys Cid strapped to a bottle rocket.

Sounds to me like he is saying don’t be surprised if Tanne looks good in practice, because he has always looked good in practice, but that hasn’t always translated to on the field play.

In other words, be carefully making bold predictions about Tanne based on a practice
If you are expecting Andrew Luck, then of course you aren't going to see that on field. But when his defense has held teams to 25 or less during his past two seasons, he's 12-3 with a 105 QB rating and 28 TD to 8 INTs. Considering that we allowed 19 PPG and will have a better offense than what he's used to, it seems like we could win with him.

Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way but after Mariota didn’t try to give it a go in the week 17 win and in scenario because of tingles...that’s not my quarterback. Lost my respect for him.

Hope Tannehill starts the season.

This is one of the worst knocks on him.

All of us were disappointed but when Drs are telling you "no, or you could permanently fuck yourself up", his health becomes more important than a fans being butthurt.

________

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said the decision to keep Mariota sidelined was made by a group of people, and Mariota said that’s true. Concerns about a nerve injury – and how it could impact his future – played a role, Mariota said.

“What it came down to is: When you have an opportunity to play a game that you love, and someone tells you you shouldn’t, that’s one of the hardest things any athlete has to go through,” Mariota said. “Unfortunately I had to deal with that.

“For what it’s worth, I wasn’t able to get to a point where I was ready to go. ... It sucks, it hurts, when you are not able to be out there with your guys -- It definitely takes a toll on you. I just wanted to be there for my guys, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to do that.”

Lot of Quarterbacks still play when doctors say not to. We just have a quarterback not willing to risk it. Soft Mariota sitting with tingles while QB’s have played through much worse injuries in less important scenarios. Here’s some examples for anyone who says mariota should not have played:

McNabb once played with a broken ankle against the Arizona Cardinals.

Rivers once played with a blown ACL in the playoffs against the Patriots

Leftwich once played through a broken tibia.

YA Tittle- broken sternum

Chris Simms- ruptured spleen

Brett Favre- broken thumb

Brett Favre- broken ankle

Ben Roethlisberger- Broken nose and broken foot

Ben Roethlisberger- torn ligaments in shoulder and sprained ac joint

Tony Romo- punctured Lung and broken rib

Tony romo- broken back

Cam Newton- separated shoulder

For NFL quarterbacks, toughness is actually very easy to judge. It comes down to one question: Can he take the field when his team needs him?

You don't seem to realize that Vrabel and the other coaches have jobs that they need to protect. 2 other HCs have been fired since he started playing here. I doubt that Vrabel would want to join that list by keeping a struggling QB on the field just because of something he said months before. If Tannehill looks better in practice, it would be pretty dann stupid to not start him

none of these injuries could affect the throwing arm of a QUARTERBACK permanently, so really not the same

keep holding onto that hope, even when you are so clearly wrong

Not the same buddy , apples and oranges. Sorry you had to type so much.

Luck played through a labrum tear.... His freaking shoulder...
If you don't understand how crazy that is, look at how long his rehab was.
With a labrum tear your arm will just slide out of the socket from the weight of your arm.. this guy was playing football. All the tendons are attached to the labrum, they all shift around and float. It is one of the worst and longest to rehab cartlidge tears you can get.
