you are being naive if you say that he doesnt

i expected you to come in here and come up with some reason to discredit it though, it's what you do. all bad no good from u, all the time
Nobody said that he was bad under pressure when he throws the ball. The issue is that he doesn't, which is why his sack rate leads the league

Mariota was the 4th most accurate in the league while throwing under pressure. He was also the worst in the league at avoiding pressure and taking sacks. So sometimes he's really good, and sometimes he really sucks. Like we keep saying, he's inconsistent.

Quote his bad games

Quote his BAD games.

I bet you can’t name more bad games than you listed.

Ownt
Baltimore, Miami, and Indy were pretty awful. Buffalo, Washington, NYG, and both Jacksonville games we got backup-caliber production out of him, though his running ability was helpful in the first Jacksonville game. Philadelphia, LA, Dallas and NE weren't flawless, but we'd be more than happy with that level of play consistently. Houston looks great on paper, but those were mainly hollow stats as the offense wasn't moving the ball or extending drives consistently.

That's the summary of the season, and what he's become. Not a bunch of awful games, but not many great either. Mostly forgettable/inconsistent performances. Having a defense capable of keeping him in games and allowing him to pull through at the end has created a more favorable perception of him

He got injured in the Miami and Indy games... So Baltimore as your bad game.

Jacksonville game he came in injured, and beat a division rival. Buffalo could be counted as a bad game. Very strange game. Rosen threw for under 100. Against the NYG Henry ran wild all game and we only threw it 20 times. On the other hand, stat monster Eli threw for 250 and got shut out.

He didn't finish the Washington game, but was 10-13 with 110 before the injury. The 2nd Jacksonville game Henry ran for 238 and dominated the Jags.

So bad games: Baltimore, Miami, Buffalo
Mediocre Games: Washington, Giants, Jacksonville and a few up for debate
Good games: Philly, Dallas, LA, and NE

Not a lot of bad games. And the games that were bad were just bad team performances overall.

Outside of Baltimore we played down to our competition.

I don't see many people saying he's flat out terrible. Most that are critical are just saying he's not doing much most games that's really impressive. He has his moments of brilliance, but nothing consistent and certainly nothing warranting a long term deal.

That's the the crossroads we're at now - do we pay him to keep him here for years to come, do we franchise him and keep kicking the can down the road, or do we cut ties and move on and try our luck in the draft again?

For anyone saying he'll play for pennies on the dollar, I just don't know where you're getting that. Are you just imagining that this pro QB doesn't care about millions of dollars? He has the same agent as Carson Wentz and Jared Goff. Wentz (who is also often injured) just got paid and I imagine Goff will sometime soon too. His agent is going to handle this, not Marcus. He chose his agent to negotiate for him and act in his best interest. His agent is going to ask for a good bit. Maybe not Wentz money ($32M/year of new money), but still at least gonna be $25M+.

Can anyone here really sit there and tell me he's been playing at a $25M/year level? If we tag him though, he's going to cost that much anyways. So what do we do? Talk about his adjusted completion % and how much weight he's put on all you want, but it doesn't remove the elephant in the room that is his contract situation.

Actions speak louder than words and the front office not acting at all on his contract situation speaks louder than anyone throwing stats around, and showing highlight videos. The front office is saying they don't have confidence in his health, his production, and they have no idea if he'll be here next year. Wentz has been injured and his FO still gave him a big deal. We traded for a guy who has starter potential to back him up because of the lack of confidence.

Love the person all you want, but don't let your appreciation for Marcus the person blind you to the issues that Marcus the QB has.

Nice post
It's a make or break year for him..I think the team feels the same way, no one in the FO is hoping he fails but they don't know what they have in him.
If he has a great year they will get something in place, protecting the team.
If he fails they will move on with Tannehill and a draft pick or Mariota as the backup.

That's kind of surprising TBH

top flight punter, kick returner, and a really good kicker.. If I had to guess I'd have figured wed be top 5 on ST

Punt coverage was poop at times tho so I guess that's where we lost some points in the rankings
PR is still an issue as far as I’m concerned.

The real question at PR is do we keep Jackson back there

Hes solid but its risky since he starts at CB

Seems extremely boom or bust and on the couple booms, there was a penalty. The bust plays are him getting creamed or he fumbles. We need him at CB, someone else should be returning.
