You do realize he was protecting his sister who was being attacked, right? Now it wasn't right, but it's nowhere near similar to the Hill, Hunt, or Rice situations.

Not to mention it was high school, and their situations were grown ass men.

after some reflection which I was initially rolling my eyes.. now i'm at the point where we don't really have the roster to do much of anything past the mediocrity we've displayed the last few years.. so does it really make much difference to have him this year? 8-8 vs 9-7? irrelevant, middle of the pack team so.. doesn't really matter if he's here this year

Our team is good enough now where nobody that was sitting there was going to come in and drastically change our 2019 season. Crap teams are drafting for now. Good teams are drafting for the future.

In the first round, you want elite talent. You won't get that at 19 unless there are some red flags. We got a top ten level talent. Well done Jrob.
I would agree if Sweat were not sitting right there. An elite rusher fell to them, and they took a guy that you're hoping can come back strong in late 2020.

But he's a Titan now, so I'm rooting for him to recover fully and justify his high selection by pairing up with Casey to dominate OLs for the next few years.

In essence, we did trade back. Way back. We traded this year’s 19th pick for next years 4th pick in the 1st round.

You mean where the woman he was hitting was on the ground already and he was just wailing on her? How is that defending your sister? And it looked like the sister had a big weight advantage over the female on the ground. Go back and watch because you clearly didn't see the video.

This woman teased him and his relative about his recently deceased family member. He lOst control for a brief moment. He's been an honor roll student and good guy. You'll never hear anything negative from him

He HIT a female REPEATEDLY. How anyone is defending him is beyond me.

We need a difference maker. The guys selected after us were underwhelming IMO. He's 300 pounds of pure muscle and still filling out at only 21. And judging him solely based on his interviews, I'd label him as a genuine and high character guy.

I don’t think Mort knows jack about who removed him from their board. I call BS on that.

It happened but ESPN didn’t say anything about Bosa’s little social media controversy, did they?

ESPN sent a crew to his home but had no intention of show the kid’s finest moment.
I guess ESPN has a vendetta against Jeffery Simmons.

I think the draft unfolded in the teens as bad as it possibly could have for the Titans, and when the pick came up, they decided to roll the dice and try to get a guy who would have been top 5 if not for the injury. Also, completely classless coverage of the pick by ESPN. Once in a lifetime moment for the kid and you spend not some, but 100% of his moment in the spotlight trashing him.

How is showing a video of what he did trashing him? Guess they trashed Ray Rice in your eyes as well?

that's what it looks like really. We gave up a 1st this year to have two next year, with one being guaranteed to be Simmons. But if we are having to trade up for a QB next year, at least we'll have Simmons to make up for the lost draft picks we'll need to use for trade capital.

They definitely trashed him. I tuned in to watch my teams 1st round moment. Those F ers spent literally the whole time trashing his past and injury etc....Didn’t say jack squat about any other draft pick other than their play. F them! Especially in Nashville. That was ballsy

The explanation was garbage. "Let me defend my sister by punching a woman on the ground over and over."

Dude open your eyes
Read his original response. The guy had an emotional reaction to a nasty comment made by that woman regarding his recently murdered nephews.

And, again, he was what, 17, 18 years old? And hes been a model boy scout since.

I'm not worried about it.

This all just reinforced my decision to watch it on ABC last night instead of ESPN. ABC showed several loops of highlights and his family, and mentioned the incident from HS as an aside.

I'll be watching on ABC again tonight.

Not even sure I want him to play in '19.

Make sure he is 100%, let him really watch and learn, let him get hungry watching meaningful games. Then give him a full off season.

...and hope he comes in for '20 and tears up the league.

I would like to see him get some reps in at the very least, get his feet wet a little

Yes, he has handled it about as well as one can and is rehabilitated. Should he continue to be punished?

I am very disappointing too that ESPN sensationalized this incident with Simmons. While glossing over the much more serious, and repeated, incidents (not assault, something worse) with Joey Bosa, who went second.

Why is Simmons crucified while they go light on Bosa?

I wonder............

Said, hey old man how can you stand
To think that way, did you really think about it
Before you made the rules?
He said, "Son, that's just the way it is
Some things will never change
That's just the way it is"
