Titans fans complain about not taking Myles Jack (and the risk his knees wouldn’t hold up) or Jaylon Smith because of his injury. Both regarded as top 10 talents in the draft that year.
Then they do it and they still complain lol
I mean I think we all are but hindsight is always 20/20.
But now we are on the other side so no complaints because he’s doing what every fan wanted him to that year. Best part is we are in a position to take a guy like this because we have starters at every position.
Not saying we don’t need upgrades but we have talented enough guys to start at all spots.
Not even sure I want him to play in '19.
Make sure he is 100%, let him really watch and learn, let him get hungry watching meaningful games. Then give him a full off season.
...and hope he comes in for '20 and tears up the league.
that seems awfully optimistic. that would be amazing though
That is flat out BS. There were MANY, myself included, pissed the moment Dodd was announced. And we gave Dodd a chance and after the 5th game, the critics started questioning the production and were blasted that we were expecting too much too soon from a "2nd round pick". The idea that a #33 overall pick is VERY valuable, and not a typical "2nd round pick" was dismissed.
to be fair, the majority of the complaints were that Dodd (our #33 overall pick, and the 3rd of our picks-not the titans 1st pick ) was picked instead.
But I get what you're saying. I have no criticism of this pick. Without the injury- a no brainer pick. We got upside value with the "potential" the injury caused at the #19 pick. ACL's are usually much stronger after rehabbing. And they occur somewhat "randomly", and don't indicate a predisposition for injury like other orthopedic injuries.
I prefer that a 1st rounder contribute right away, the higher the pick, the sooner they should be contributing (except QB's). But all the other picks that were high probability immediate contributors were off the board, so I don't mind the use of the #19 pick on upside value. I'd have preferred to trade down and still get this guy, but that requires a trade partner and I'm sure we didn't have any. So as unsatisfying as this is going to be next year, don't mind the pick.

I don’t think Mort knows jack about who removed him from their board. I call BS on that.I don't get this sentiment.
It happened. He did it. He's taken responsibility for it. It may have contributed(helped) to his falling in the draft. Mortenson and Schefter both said it caused some teams to remove him from the board, so it was relevant. Not everyone was aware of the incident. It'd be negligent of ESPN and NFLN to not talk about it.
Well yeah, but those injuries either happened after we drafted them, or were not considered very serious. In this case, we're talking about a 300 lb DT tearing his ACL not long before the draft.C Davis and Evans miss half their rookie seasons with injury's.
I just don't get all the crying about him possible missing the season.

I honestly don't think he plays this year (or at best, gets some limited snaps late in the season). He won't be 100% until next off-season, and that's if he comes back to 100% at all. At his size, it's not a guarantee that he can bounce back from a severe knee/acl injury.
He's in the same boat as Tyreek Hill to me now. Can't cheer for anyone that lays hands on a female. Embarrassing time to be a Titans fan.
