Hope this dude isn’t just another Antonio Johnson rotational d-lineman who was picked high by us.

Especially when explosive offensive weapons like Hollywood Brown were available to expand the offense

Give suh whatever it costs for a one year deal as a gap fill and additional mentor. Do it today.

It’s funny just watched the video of Simmons with his family when he got picked instead of the foul footage espn showed . Still upset about the injury and fact he may not play but definitely pulling for the kid and he looks beastly , he got that vibe . Hope we can make up through free agent signing and rest of draft what we’re not getting immediately from a 1st round pick.

Pretty sure JROB hit the OH SHH button once Wilkins and Burns were gone.

Oh well, he's ours now.

Don't rush him back like we tried with Jack. I would imagine he'll play, but probably not til Week 8 or so.

Hope the ACL heals well and he’s a long term titan. Too me, that’s what the draft is about, finding guys that will be good enough to stick around. If he’s as good as advertised, we’re going to be talking about him like Casey in just a couple years.

Sucks he won’t (probably shouldn’t anyway) play this year which doesn’t really help the DL hole still existing. 2nd round is coming, fingers crossed for no Dodds.

Just out of interest, regardless of your view on the pick, where do you think Jrob had him ranked on our board? Brutal run of DEs / DTs taken before us..

Titans fans complain about not taking Myles Jack (and the risk his knees wouldn’t hold up) or Jaylon Smith because of his injury. Both regarded as top 10 talents in the draft that year.

Then they do it and they still complain lol

to be fair, the majority of the complaints were that Dodd (our #33 overall pick, and the 3rd of our picks-not the titans 1st pick ) was picked instead.

But I get what you're saying. I have no criticism of this pick. Without the injury- a no brainer pick. We got upside value with the "potential" the injury caused at the #19 pick. ACL's are usually much stronger after rehabbing. And they occur somewhat "randomly", and don't indicate a predisposition for injury like other orthopedic injuries.

I prefer that a 1st rounder contribute right away, the higher the pick, the sooner they should be contributing (except QB's). But all the other picks that were high probability immediate contributors were off the board, so I don't mind the use of the #19 pick on upside value. I'd have preferred to trade down and still get this guy, but that requires a trade partner and I'm sure we didn't have any. So as unsatisfying as this is going to be next year, don't mind the pick.

I mean I think we all are but hindsight is always 20/20.

But now we are on the other side so no complaints because he’s doing what every fan wanted him to that year. Best part is we are in a position to take a guy like this because we have starters at every position.

Not saying we don’t need upgrades but we have talented enough guys to start at all spots.

That is flat out BS. There were MANY, myself included, pissed the moment Dodd was announced. And we gave Dodd a chance and after the 5th game, the critics started questioning the production and were blasted that we were expecting too much too soon from a "2nd round pick". The idea that a #33 overall pick is VERY valuable, and not a typical "2nd round pick" was dismissed.

Not even sure I want him to play in '19.

Make sure he is 100%, let him really watch and learn, let him get hungry watching meaningful games. Then give him a full off season.

...and hope he comes in for '20 and tears up the league.

I agree. I wouldn't give play this guy ANY in 2019. I'd be afraid he'd stress his rehab and not be ready to handle the NFL level stress until 18 months after. I wouldn't risk blowing up a 1st round pick right away for minimal production return.

I was beyond mad, when it was him and not jaylon........ and the hatred came back this past year when Jaylon blew up

All good points for sure. I absolutely wish he could play this year. But either way I think we are going to happy with this kid.

Jrob actually said we had trade offers to move back but he felt like there might have been a team or 2 after us that had Simmons targeted as well.

Did you mean to respond to my post? I’m not sure what I said that was BS because I agree with everything you said.

I don't get this sentiment.

It happened. He did it. He's taken responsibility for it. It may have contributed(helped) to his falling in the draft. Mortenson and Schefter both said it caused some teams to remove him from the board, so it was relevant. Not everyone was aware of the incident. It'd be negligent of ESPN and NFLN to not talk about it.
I don’t think Mort knows jack about who removed him from their board. I call BS on that.

It happened but ESPN didn’t say anything about Bosa’s little social media controversy, did they?

ESPN sent a crew to his home but had no intention of show the kid’s finest moment.

C Davis and Evans miss half their rookie seasons with injury's.

I just don't get all the crying about him possible missing the season.

Well yeah, but those injuries either happened after we drafted them, or were not considered very serious. In this case, we're talking about a 300 lb DT tearing his ACL not long before the draft.

I honestly don't think he plays this year (or at best, gets some limited snaps late in the season). He won't be 100% until next off-season, and that's if he comes back to 100% at all. At his size, it's not a guarantee that he can bounce back from a severe knee/acl injury.

Our team is good enough now where nobody that was sitting there was going to come in and drastically change our 2019 season. Crap teams are drafting for now. Good teams are drafting for the future.

In the first round, you want elite talent. You won't get that at 19 unless there are some red flags. We got a top ten level talent. Well done Jrob.

He's in the same boat as Tyreek Hill to me now. Can't cheer for anyone that lays hands on a female. Embarrassing time to be a Titans fan.

You do realize he was protecting his sister who was being attacked, right? Now it wasn't right, but it's nowhere near similar to the Hill, Hunt, or Rice situations.
