Lol right? I mean I guess we shouldn’t let a guy who showed promise and someone we invested a 2nd round pick in become a starter.

Wake has shown he can still play at a high level and Finch and Correa proved to be decent backups.

and there is a lot of edge depth in this draft

other than the dude with the heart condition there were not really first round level edge guys left

You are being short sighted. That’s not a good thing to do when watching the NFL draft. This isn’t about 2019. This is about building a dominant defense for years to come.
We're saying the same thing. You're somehow focused on one thing I said in the my first post in this thread and are still talking about it.

"He might be good. Too bad we won't find out until 2020."

I don't see how that's hating or being pessimistic.

I eagerly await his 5-9 snaps a game in November.

2019 is a wash. That's ok. It is what it is. No bitching come December and we're on the edge of the playoffs and he's not contributing though.
Meh, it’s better than him being fully healthy, then tearing his ACL in game 1. Anything can happen. It was a really good pick for the future.

i will take a star I have to wait for over a Morgan caliber guy who can be on the field six months sooner.

As a point of reference, Jack Conklin tore his ACL in January. He was awful when we came back 10 months later.

This is a 2020 contributor. That's ok. Sucks for the 2019 team though.

Of course you left out the “tough to argue we are trying to make the playoffs in 2019 with a pick like this”.

That’s the exact definition of pessimistic, actually.

Like I said, you're focusing on one part of the post.

I'll take it, there was nothing special left on the board

Yeah, the short sighted and pessimistic part.

You’re saying he might be good in 2020 and then acknowledge the draft isn’t just about one year. So why are you complaining about us not “making a pick to help us make the playoffs”?

I wish the poll included sweat being on the board at the time. Ok with pick but not taking him over a bigger position of need without trading down for simmons at 19 we should have taken sweat or traded back and then taken simmons due to injury

Let's remember that the draft is to find long-term talent. Free agency is to get in guys you want to plug and play.

It's not ideal but this kid is only 21 and, if he gets healthy and plays to his talent level, will be the steal of this draft when evaluated after three seasons.

Not even sure I want him to play in '19.

Make sure he is 100%, let him really watch and learn, let him get hungry watching meaningful games. Then give him a full off season.

...and hope he comes in for '20 and tears up the league.

no way dude, if he his healthy his arse better be out there. he's a DL in the NFL not a brain surgeon

With our line, he doesn’t “need” to be rushed in, we can afford to hold off a bit.
