I like the pick and I like him more each and every time I see something else on him, but...

I think we are overselling the top 5/top 10 talk. Look at mocks before the combine. Some had him going 17, some had him going to the Titans. Etc, etc, etc. He was in no way a lock for a top 10 pick.

Fix that for you.

He was most definitely better than Wilkins and little Oliver
Oliver was a consensus 1st overall pick for just about the entire year until the fallout with Applewhite. Don’t be blinded, Simmons was a 1st rounder who was talked about slipping to the 2nd because of the knee and off field stuff. He still went higher than 95% of expectations at 19.

That WR from Buffalo was thought to be a first rounder at one point during the season, and he was not even drafted.

Simmon is better than Little Oliver.

Oliver was not the #1 overall pick. Nick Bosa was all year long.

Regardless, Simmons was a consensus top 3 interior lineman before the injury. Getting that value at 19 is good no?

The thing I watched yesterday said that it depends on exactly what attribute you are talking about. Brute strength and power? Then Simmons is better. Need an athletic guy that can make turns and is quick across the field? Oliver.

There's lots of talk about whether or not Simmons was a top 10 talent. Let's take a look:

Auburn DT Derrick Brown is staying in school his senior season. He’s already projected to be the #1 DT in next year’s draft to be taken in the top 5.

Both he and Simmons were juniors this year.

Here’s Simmons’ career numbers (38 games):
163 tackles, 33 for loss, 7 sacks, 5 forced fumbles

Here’s Brown’s career numbers (34 games):
116 tackles, 21.5 for loss, 8.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles.

Last year only (13 games each):
Simmons:
63 tackles, 18 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble
Brown: 48 tackles, 10.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble

You can draw your own conclusions. Both teams faced many of the same teams last year. It would be interesting to interview a couple of OL who faced them and see which they thought were better.

Conclusion: I think it's fair to say Simmons was an amazing value at #19. We'll need to wait and see how it shakes out.

What I saw yesterday was some analysis on Simmons playing against the Iowa OL, which is considered one of the few college offenses that use NFL OL concepts and he was killing them. Always in the backfield.

There are a lot of Titan fans sitting here acting like dude didn’t just blow up his ACL 55 days ago. He’s gonna miss the next 9 months, that puts him at a November/December timeframe.

Do you guys really believe that a guy coming off an ACL repair and missing 90% of 2019 college football(100% more likely) is going to go top 10?

I watched that game cut up on YouTube and it was easily his most impressive. The Kentucky game was really impressive too. Doing it against Iowa is a whole other ball game with the quality of their OL. Not just that they are NFL style, they are always good and well coached on the line at Iowa.

Who is acting like he didn’t blow his ACL 55 days ago? I have seen everyone in here talk about.

He didn’t miss any college football this year though. He got injured training for the combine. Guess where he was protected to go before the combine.... I’ll give you 3 guesses.

Do you believe he goes before Quinnen, Ed and Wilkins?

Gurley got drafted after an ACL tear, Mcgahee did as well. Both in the first round. Jaylon Smith went in the 2nd...I wouldve taken him over Dodd.

Who would you have picked instead of Simmons? Sweat being the only one I would have, I'm happy with the Simmons pick. I think he's going to be a beast.

I’m on board with the Simmons pick, but I swear to god titans fans change the rules and just flat out make things up when it comes to our players.

Simmons top 5 pick lol

Tyreek hill a horrible person but Simmons is a saint LOL

Who is saying he is a saint??

And that’s a horrible comparison.

Not Williams but the others more than likely. He was a consensus top three interior defense of lineman, and that was before any combine testing. I’m not sure about his numbers but he easily could’ve blown up the combine and moved up even more
