That guy has no clue about the Titans
Maybe, but at the same time something I have been thinking for awhile. People who are not close to the situation, Titan fan, homer, it is easy for them to look at the numbers and the reality and know he is not the answer.

Things that say he isn’t a franchise QB: 1) Injuries 2) poor stats 3) highly inconsistent 4) nervous in the pocket.

Things that say he is a franchise QB: 1) Plays with heart during games 2) can definitely make big plays and comeback. 3) Can be clutch

Bottom line...He hasn’t shown he can stay healthy, or consistency. It’s not hating, it’s not rooting against him, it’s fact. Most of us know he can be exciting as hell, but he hasn’t shown he is worthy of committing to over a long period of time yet. I think this is a make or break year for him, plain and simple. Everything Jrob, Vrabel, and Amy have done says as much. I think they are rooting for him like we all are, but there is clearly doubt.

I'd agree with most of this. Nervous in the pocket? Maybe after he's getting killed...but most qb's are affected when they take a lot of sacks from poor ol play. And HIGHLY inconsistent? Agree to disagree on the severity of this but agree he's TOO inconsistent right now.

There is obviously doubt (which is why he hasn't gotten an extension).

But I'm curious. Many have set the bar at around 30TD's to earn an extension while these guys were talking automatic extension for Prescott (22 TD's and 3800yds with one of the best RB's and OL's in the NFL and one of the best young receivers) at 27-30mil/yr. Would you give him an extension automatically based on those stats for that kind of money?

On the flip side, Goff has vastly superior stats...and yet they don't think he SHOULD get an extension (though Sims thinks there will be too much pressure to get rid of him based on stats).

Thoughts?

Did you hear them talk about Corey Davis as if hes been playing like some nobody?

They dont know what Corey Davis is, yet they're sure we wont take his 5th yr option because of performance.

If we dont take his option its more because its around $16M, and we could simply re-sign him for less. Market value for a 900-1000 yard WR is not $16M. And in this system no WR is worth $16M.

Absolutely. I think this is more about health and the really bad flop games more than stats per say. I say nervous in the pocket because it’s strange, I never feel like he is set, and he often has happy feet back there. People say Marcus sucks, but that is untrue. I think what is most frustrating about him is that he can be clutch, he can be awesome, he just can’t put it all together and stay healthy. I swear it’s like jeckyl and Hyde. We added a lot of pieces this off season, but this is really on Mariota at this point, pieces or not. He has to find a way to stay healthy and he can’t continue to be so inconsistent. We are way too 1 dimensional of a team. We have to figure out a way to open up this offense.

The league is strange here...Wentz is in the same boat. Big stats, but always injured. Dak isn’t great, but he plays in December often, and stays healthy for the most part. For me, it comes down to consistency and availability. If Marcus can show us that, absolutely sign him. I think he’s a good kid and plays with heart, but we genuinely haven’t seen that yet. You?

There was a time where Dak was black mary, so if he can get it together then no reason not to think mary can too.

Once Dak got Cooper his life got a lot easier.

Lets just hope with the addition of AJ, and Humphries that Mary can step up like Dak did when they got Cooper.

Hey, I hope so man...but Davis clearly didn’t turn the tide. Even when he had Davis and Walker, it didn’t change him. I do think we have a solid corps right now, and there is no reason he shouldn’t excel this year...but only time will tell.

Gotta look at the whole game... Dallas consistently had a good OL and run game.

To be fair.

Davis did turn a page 2017 to 2018, and Walker was gone all year.

I think the roster is good enough to support a game manager like Mary. I expect 20ish TDs in 15 games. Thats gonna get him an extension

We did have a solid defense. I totally get it, but we have a good enough surrounding crew. Especially now

We shall see. I hope so man. I want to win and have fun, but that means we have to see Mary from years ago. I’m snake bit until I see that.

I don't know if you can fault Mariota for being a "game manager" with the weapons we had. He had 2 young WR's, no vet help, and the rest might not even make the roster this year.

It takes a while to build chemistry and all of that got disrupted as soon as the season started.

It doesn’t take 5 years to build chemistry. No doubt he has had some changes etc, but he also had a healthy team 2 years ago and couldn’t push the ball downfield more than 13 TD’s. Can’t always point the finger at everyone else. He’s the captain and they pay him to bring out the best on offense. He has had plenty of help sent his way. I’m over those excuses.

Lewan, Conklin, Murray, Lewis, Davis, Jonnu, Taylor, Henry, Matthews, defensive help, and this year Saffold, Davis, Brown, Humphries. Just to name a few. It’s now or never man. End of story. None of us have to like it, but the front office has him on notice...and this team is fully prepared to move on if need be.

Most the blame will always go to the highest paid player. And if that player is highly unproductive it only makes the blame more valid.

I’ve never heard more excuses made for one player. We have to basically put together an all star cast on offense to get Josh Rosen rookie numbers out of Mary, and that’s unacceptable.

Would you pay 25mil per for Alex Smith? Because that’s best case scenario with Mary.

Now, hopefully...

Last season we had a 2nd year Davis who we still weren't sure who he was. We had a run game that didn't really show up until the last quarter of the season. We lost Walker from game one... that left Davis annnnd... um, a bunch of guys that might make other teams as 3rd or 4th WRs.

Honestly, you can make the argument that without confidence in your pass catchers, you will not make confident throws.

However, he is also under the microscope.

5 years?

Last year was a new system, And the only players he had chemistry with (Walker and Matthews) were taken away. He hasn’t really been given an opportunity to build chemistry with anyone yet.

Now, hopefully he can hit the ground running with Davis and Walker this year and have some chemistry built up. But he wasn’t afforded that last year.

We basically have to spend premium dollars on every position around Mariota to get him to put up mediocre stats. What does that tell you? Possibly that he doesn’t elevate the players around him as much as he should?

Look what Brady, Rodgers, Luck, Mahomes does with no names playing WR. Mary needs 4 All Pros to be mediocre. And 2 all pro Tackles. Hmmmm
