I honestly think if he has a great game, JRob is shopping him. Sell high ya know.
I don't think NFL teams/GMs are that short-sighted. I'm not sure a good game against what is most likely a bottom 5 (maybe worse) team is going to fool anybody and suddenly have the phones ringing. There's 4+ years of tape on the guy at this point.

Should we shop Mary b4 he gets injured and gets us nothing this offseason?

Hes still owed 18M on the year, that may be too rich for a QB needy team. But if we keep him out there hes 100% going to hurt himself

He won’t have much trade value. Just like I was trying to tell people in another thread. There won’t be many teams bidding for his services this offseason.

That’s if they consider Mary slightly better than tanne... and if they don’t, no difference.

We will find out on Thursday. Would be so easy for Vrabel to make a switch because of Mariota’s injury. If MM plays they clearly believe he’s the best option for 2019.

Don't totally agree with that. It could just mean they aren't ready to throw in the towel on him... yet. Even if they think Tanny is the same or perhaps even slightly better than Mary, they can't just give up on the dude after 2 weeks in a contract year. And I say that as a staunch believer that Mary is NOT the guy.

If we get more performances like last Sunday though, he could definitely still get yanked.

And it will all be because of the media.

I think Mariota knows what's at stake here.

Fortunately Mariota plays pretty well on National TV.

Marcus is definitely feeling some pressure. The way he answered PK’s question about check downs told me that he is trying to show he can make it happen. Unfortunately, last week it did the opposite.

We’ll see how he responds but he’s got to string multiple weeks together. Preferably 14 of them.

Clock is ticking and he knows it.

Idk maybe so but the Titans have given their time to Marcus. So I don’t think they feel obligated to do so this year. Unless Vrabel and JRob don’t have their mind made up on his future here.

Vrabel strikes me as the kind of coach who is going to play the guys who give him the best chance to win every week. I don’t think that excludes the QB, but I could be wrong.

Generally speaking, I think you're right. But this is a tricky situation with Flota. Major, major decision incoming. Like the biggest one I can remember for this franchise in a long ass time. It's also possible Vrabel has been ordered from above to let Flota have this season. Or at least a fair shake at it.

I don't believe their mind is made up (Amy/Jrob's anyway). If it were I think he'd either be extended already or Tannehill would be starting right now.

He’s a nice guy. The staff likes him personally, enough to give him his chance. They probably hoping he just goes down with an injury so they can let him and vondy down with ease.

A great game against the busted jags is hardly going to make a difference imo but it’ll be just enough to get him a few more weeks... I guess

Which is the entire problem with this qb.
Vrabel sounded done with Mariota in his PC. A reporter referenced Mariota's comments about needing to get rid of the ball and not taking sacks , and Vrabel said, "Sure, if he feels that way". He reassured the WRs that they weren't going to continue to be as uninvolved as they were against Cleveland, and Mariota said, "Hold my beer".

They will use Mariota as sack fodder against Jacksonville because they are bad and Lewan is still out, and there will be mounting injuries with his aerial helmet to the knee antics that we'll eventually be able to use as an excuse to rest him. Tannehill will take care of the rest.

Certainly not worth a #1 if that’s what you mean. But I could see a 3rd or 4th plus 6th for a QB rental team like Jets.

I went from being super pissed at Mariota getting injured last year, to being in an "I don't care if he gets injured" mode this year. Of course I don't want to see him get injured, but it just wouldn't bother me one bit.

I'm seriously at the point to where I want to see what Tannehill can do. I don't think he will come in and light it up, but if he can do enough to stave off Mariota, then I consider it a win-win situation.

It's still early for me in the season for change, but if this continues, I may just turn into ABC JR.

Fair points but I don’t think Amy is telling Vrabel or JRob what to do when it comes to roster construction or playing time. Not sure if that’s what you were implying or not.

You think they play Mariota over Darnold? He’s supposed to be back in a couple weeks. Not sure I’d want my team trading a 3rd rounder for a 2 week rental.

That is what I was implying. Or potentially Jrob telling Vrabel. I would Amy isn't a meddler. But lots of owners can be meddlesome when it comes to major QB decisions.

He’s estimated to be cleared to practice in 5 weeks and that is IF his course shows improvement. That doesn’t mean he’s ready to play. He’s lost conditioning with mono and he’s at risk for a spleen rupture until nearly all inflammation is gone.

So yeah, I could see them giving up a 3rd plus the money for a 8 week rental. Darnold is the guy for sure, so I wouldn’t see them extending Mariota at all. I can see Mariota going down the Bradford career path but on a cheaper level.

I only made my comment based on Vrabels post game speech after game 1 and he said Amy “let’s them do their jobs” but who knows. QB’s are the money makers for the franchise in most cases so you could be right.

Oh wow it’s 5 weeks? I heard 2 weeks. I know mono can be very serious.

Seriously? You dont understand how in a hurryup offense like that, that does not give the defense time to change their personnel or move people around so they are forced to run the same defense as the prior play?

I am embarrassed for you. Also this >< close to putting you on ignore. The ridiculous spinning of reality is starting to get too much to handle.

Insulting me is not gonna help you answer the question. Clearly do NOT know the answer. Try again. This time, with some knowledge.

It would also help if you didn't say more things that show you don't understand how football works. Yes, in a hurry up offense, the defense can't change personnel. Did we catch them in 12 personnel while we are in 11? No, they are matched up already so this has NO bering on anything.

Lastly...and perhaps MOST illuminating...do YOU understand that defenses DON'T run the same defense over and over again in 2min? They DO move people around as they CHANGE the defense in hurryup! Just like offenses have a group of plays they go to in the 2min drill, defenses do too! Want proof? Take a look at the end of the 1st half where the Colts are in two mins versus our D. We move people around and changed coverages several times.

Are you 'threatening' to put me on ignore? LOL!

We all know (except Gut) that Mariota is not getting resigned. That’s a given. But if he wants to play out this season he better bring it tomorrow. Another clunker tomorrow and it’s impossible to trot him out there week 4. The receivers have to be getting tired of this crap. They never get looked at beyond 10 yards (even when they’re wide open) unless it’s a 1 read design shot play. It’s getting ridiculous.

The Jets would need to make a move THIS week. Some fans think they can contend for a playoff spot. I seriously don't! Gase has all the power so he will make dumb moves if he wants it. But it's not a smart play for the Jets. What's their best case scenario? Trade for Mariota and then he comes in and lights it up for them in a different offense, doesn't get hurt, and elevates that offense for 6-8 weeks and then Darnold comes back with very little experience and immediately lights it up?

That's a lot more wishful thinking than fans here hoping Mariota improves here.

That'd be silly!

Of course, if you want to get rid of Mariota and are hoping he gets traded...Steelers, Saints, and Jags lost their QB's too. If Mariota rips up the Jags and Minshew is bad...Mariota and Adoree for Jalen?

I'm frankly surprised we haven't seen the Giants trade Eli to the Jags!
