Keep ryan and cut butler. Why not sign all 3 and tag conklin with a tag? We got the space and the money we have been 30 to 40 million below the cap for years
You don’t tag a RT and pay him LT tackle money....unfortunately the NFL doesn’t distinguish between the different OL positions when establishing the tag amounts

Hell, just mortgage the future and backload every contract. Give everybody six years. It will blow up, but we’ll win championships first.

Tennessee Titans Salary Cap Calculator | Over The Cap

I signed Henry (15M), Tannehill (22M), Ryan (12M), Conklin (14M), Sharpe (2M), Correa (3M), Bates (1M), and Firkser (660k).

Let Mariota, Woodyard, Kelly, Pamphile, Brock, Sims, Pruitt, Johnson, Milton, Fluellen, Brock, Smith, Gilbert, Batson, Woodside, and Jennings walk.

Cut Delanie, Dion, Wake, and 7 bottom of the roster no-names with no dead money.

Leaves us with 13.5M for 2020 at a projected salary cap of 224M according to overthecap.com. Which is higher than I've seen the projection on other sites.
That's with no free agents or draft picks signed. And a whole lot of roster spots to be filled.
Did I miss any cut candidates?

So you cut or let walk 25 players?

Just for the sake of fielding a full team here... if we kept the 7 no names I cut that amounts to about 3.5 M. Which leaves us with 3.5M.
Cut Wake and save another 5.5M, leaving us with 9M.
That means weve let go of 19 players, havent signed any free agents or drafts picks, and only have 9M available.
Generally 7M for rookies, right? So for the final 12 spots, weve got 2M left. Somethings gotta give.
Either some other cuts are coming or one of Tannehill, Henry, Ryan, Conklin is not getting re-signed.

Unfortunately, I could see Logan Ryan walking. With us having Adoree and Butler, that 12(ish)M is probably going to be needed elsewhere.

I need to look, but it may be applying the dead money hit for Delanie, Dion, and Wake that doesnt apply if we cut them post June 1. So, we may actually have more money than I stated. But, the cap could also not be as high as overthecap projected.

Something nobody has mentioned but do we have any current contracts that could be reworked to make cap room?

After resigning these 8 guys, that number is their cap hit this year?

I know typically the cap hit increases as the contract progresses leaving the first year or 2 less than the average per year of the contract.

I would be stunned if the cap was 224 mill. Is that the cap for all teams or for us because we can carry over 22-24 from last year? If it includes carry over it makes sense.

I just don’t see us resigning all four of those guys. I am guessing we let Ryan walk. I also doubt you can keep Tannehill for 22 mill. I am guessing between 25-30. Think you are low on Henry too, but just a bit—I know not all agree.

But you can definitely save money in year one and two by back loading the contracts.

Thats not JRs style tho, he tends to overpay the 1st yr and it levels off from there so if they need to get cut they can without straining our cap

Yep, I think Tannehill will be close to 30mil. Especially if Mahomes signs first, which Tannehill's agent will probably wait to see. They are saying Mahomes is looking at a 40mil a year contract. If that is the case, every qb in the league gains value.

Ah there it is! Yea I've seen that the cap would be max 200M in 2020 so 224M with carryover makes sense now.

We should maybe set a little coin aside for one of these free agents:

Mason Crosby
Greg Zuerlein
Ka'imi Fairbairn
Dan Bailey
Younghoe Koo

Bc... we aren't going to attempt FGs ever again?
