I think Ryan has a realistic idea of his skill set and knows that he has to be in the right system to excel....the Titans system works for him and he seems to be very involved with the Nashville community....I think he will sign a contract that is fair to both sides
I really hope so. It’s true that he has found a natural fit in Nashville, but other teams could overpay for a highly regarded DB regardless of fit. We shall see.

This...happens far more often than the alternative situation proposed.

Well I think its time for a unified thread to chat about the glut of looming free agents on this surging Titans squad and how we could afford them. Personally, I love most of this group and would very much like to see the core kept intact. Unfortunately we have 4 players playing at a high level at premium positions. Tannehill, Henry, Ryan and Conklin will all see numerous suitors on the open market unless we can get some long term deals going.

Titans Top 2020 Free Agents:
Ryan Tannehill
Derrik Henry
Logan Ryan
Jack Conklin
Wesley Woodyard
Dennis Kelley
Kevin Pamphile
Tajae Sharpe
Leshaun Sims
Anthony Firkser
Mycole Pruit

Titans projected salary cap: 62.7 million

Not bad, but more space could be made through some cuts:

Cam Wake - 6 million
Delanie Walker - 6 million
Dion Lewis - 4 million

Could also save 8 million by cutting Butler, but he's been playing well.

Also, for the first time in recent memory, the Titans could use the franchise tag and have several players worthy of it.
Id say cut Cam Wake and Dion Lewis, keep Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, Logan Ryan, Leshaun Sims, and Jack Conklin but maybe just let Dennis Kelly take over his job since he's been performing better and for Wesley Woodyard he's mentored the up and coming Brown and Evans plus he's not getting any younger. . The rest of the players are just average talent. Oh and draft a OLB, TE, and maybe draft another WR in the middle to late rounds.

How on EARTH do we have this many free agents in one year?! Jesus, is like to see pretty much all of them come back.

There’s like 3 names that demand actual money.
A couple ST players are keepers.

I thought Logan Ryan was also due?

Couple names are easy drops too.
Dirksen?
Pamphile would be a joke. He probably shouldn’t be able to collect his checks for this season.

4-5 I say have to be resigned. The rest can be replaced or upgraded if they don’t want to sign friendly deals

Tannehill, Henry, and Ryan are the only must keeps. Conklin and Kelly are in the like to have, but could be replaced by a draft pick or FA if we can't keep them. And Firkser, Sharpe, Correa, and Bates are in the nice to have but can be replaced category.

Aside from that, the rest are solid role guys that aren't anything head and shoulders above other guys we can find on the street. Just the nature of the NFL.

I think conk has played beyond “nice to have”. That would be a tough replacement.

Sharpe and firkser are good depth guys. Cost may not be too much for 2nd/3rd stringers.

Correa can walk.

Bates is a really good STer. Not sure how easily replaced that is but usually isn’t too costly to keep anyway.

I would sign Conk over Ryan. He has rebounded nicely and having a solid RT is crucial for this offense. We have two starting cb’s already.

Yeah, I would tend to agree. Our line has finally seemed to gel a little. Let's go into next season with the same personnel if possible (other than perhaps a rg upgrade).

Maybe instead of floundering to gel the first half of the season, we could actually jump out to a good start. Would be nice to get one of these playoff game thingies in Nashville one of these days.

Right, definitely above a nice to have which is why I had him above that category. You make him an offer, but you don't break the bank on him.

He's not playing an unreplaceable level though; he's not elite. If the deal isn't right, you can find other tackles that are close to his level.

Don't get me wrong, I really like him and I'd much rather keep him.

What's Nate Davis' grades been like lately? Is he still solid in run blocking but abysmal in pass blocking? Would be nice to have an upgrade there.

I don't know his grades but he looked great on Saturday. So did Jones. But I think they've been pretty good in the run game and now look better in the passing game because of Tanny.

I think Conk is about to be paid. My gut says Tanny and Conk will get signed, Henry transition tagged and Ryan will hit the market.

I like the idea of tagging Henry. What is compensation for losing a transition tag player?

Agree on the other three.

I guess my thought on Davis is the talk around him has been really silent over the past several weeks. Which is generally a good thing for an OL.

I do like the thought of tagging Henry from a FO standpoint, but as a fan of the person, I want to sign him to a 3 year deal. He's just such a good team first guy.

Like hearing Watson after the game, he said something along the lines of, "Someone had to step up and make a play, why not me?". But then you hear Henry talking all the time, and his mantra this year has been, "Why not us?"

Yeah. I'd rather tag Tannehill than Henry. I'm pretty confident henry is going to keep producing. Tannehill could just be having an out of his mind outlier season.

Agree on the other three.
You get no compensation for losing a transition tagged player except that they fill count in your compensatory pick total...so would have a good chance of getting a 3rd rnder.

This is a unique year and we can use both the franchise and the transition tag.

I go back and forth on which to use on Tanny/Henry. If you transition tag Henry then I think their is a very good chance that some team gives him a long term deal that we don’t want to match....or maybe teams are afraid to over pay him with a huge deal and thus we let the market set his value lower than Henry would want

If you transitioned Tanny, I just don’t see a team giving him a huge deal in the 30mil range....I just don’t see us not being willing to match any other offer.

so if you want to keep them both then I think your best option is to transition Tanny and franchise Henry

Hopefully we can get deals done with both and avoid any messy tag issues

I'M SO AMP'ED GUYS!!! WOW WHAT A HELL OF A SEASON SO FAR!!

Long time, belated Merry Christmas & Happy New Years to all!!!

For sure the top four have stay - either with deal or tag - Tanman, KingH, Ryan, Conk.

I also don't see us letting Logan go

For CB, you need 4 players - I would prob cut Butler to keep Logan if we really had to, but really with out cap, we should be able to afford them all for now. Sims vs Brock, either is fine, but Brock looked good in small sample size, whichever cheaper or that Dean wants more - because best believe we'll need 4 players min next year.

Really, we need to stabilize the OL, we should be able to keep Conk, who looks like he has finally rebounded. For Henry/Tan, keeping the line steady is huge.

Sad to say, but might be time to move on from Delanie. Dion needs to go... Wake would need to re-structure to stay, but he's a luxury we might not be able to afford.

We need help at the end spot, a 3-down pass rusher/run stopper badly, assuming we keep the above, that is our biggest need. If you give Dean Peas, with the current talent he has, a young Orakpo-Suggs type player, my goodness!!

Keep ryan and cut butler. Why not sign all 3 and tag conklin with a tag? We got the space and the money we have been 30 to 40 million below the cap for years
