Is fair to say that Saffold is yet another bust at guard .

Jones is done at C.

Depth at the other guard spot is horrible.

We're gonna have to use all of our picks on O-lineman from now on.

J-Rob fault

I'm not an apologist for any coach on this team. I just find it strange when the FG kicker misses four attempts in one game, it's the player and not the Special Teams coach if we're going to blame Carter for OL play.

If you had multiple kickers missing that were coached from the same guy you would have to ask yourself what are they being coached. That’s the thing, it’s not just Saffold. It’s the entire Oline. Bad technique and lack of execution across the board. Where is that coming from? The Oline is the same guys minus 2 from when Russ Grimm was here, one of which was a significant upgrade and things weren’t like this. Makes you wonder. I’m just as baffled as everyone else of how inept this group has been playing. All that money invested in the Oline and they are one of the worst groups in the league. Idk, mind boggling .

I think we agree there are multiple persons/units responsible. But errors and faults are different from responsibilities.
I never mentioned responsibility. I'm asking if an OL coach change fixes Saffold.

It might but I think Saffold has to fix Saffold.

How about releasing the ball quick to an open spot where the WR is ANTICIPATED to be? That is what Mahomes, Brady, Rogers et al do with great success when faced with an aggressive pass rush that needs cooling off.

I agree, on 1st and 2 down. You want him to pick up half of it on 3rd and goal from the 11, though?

He's about to start moving, he just now finished his drop ... which guy is he throwing to on 3rd and goal from the 11? AJ Brown was alone at the bottom of the screen, drew double coverage.

Hit Humphries on a 4 yard out, and hope he breaks the tackle? Then, when he doesn't, everyone is wondering why the hell he threw it short of the end zone on 3rd and goal with the kicker struggling?

Honestly, I can't even vent anymore. Venting requires anger. I find I can't even be angry at the Titans any more. I no longer expect anything better of them. This is what they are... A poorly run small market afterthought of the league that will perpetually be mired in mediocrity, punctuated with periods of outright suckage.

The late 90s early 00s was the outlier. We likely won't see it again.

The Titans are rapidly becoming like the vols to me... A fond memory from my youth that is no longer relevant.

I hear you. I became a fan of this franchise in 1995. Watched McNair scorch Samford on a recruiting visit in ‘94 and instantly became a fan. When the Oilers drafted him, I left my longtime fandom with the Dolphins. When the Oilers moved to TN, I was in college in Nashville, and was completely on board. Those first few years in Nashville were magical. Heck, everything up until 2009 was fun. But, 10 years. 10 years of disappointment. 10 years of inconsistency. 10 years of bad QBs. It just sucks the life out of you.

Cody Parkey......?

We're cutting a "Nick Williams" kicker --- to replace him with..... Nick Williams alcoholic brother.....?

Yep. I became a Titan fan the day they announced the move to Tennessee. Sat down and watched the final oilers games in Houston to acquaint myself with the team.

I had no idea how good I had it as a football fan back then. Vols were a premiere national program. Titans were perennial contenders. Now... Ugh. The vols are an embarrassment, and the Titans are the maddeningly inconsistent circle jerk tease we all know and sadly, love.

When Mularkey got fired my opinion of him was rather good. I felt grateful for him because he made us a tough and respectable football team again after the abomination that was 2014 and 2015.

Now I'm resenting his entire tenure because left us with an O-line that can do nothing but engage in downhill power-run-blocking.

Maybe JRob is guilty of this too. He traded up for Conklin and brought in Saffold, both guys who grade highest in their run-blocking. And we all know how bad Henry is at offering protection.

Mariota wants to sit back and go through multiple reads to dissect a defense. That's great, but this line is incapable of giving him the time to do so. So we either need to rebuild the line with pass blockers or get a QB who isn't afraid to sling it.

I cant help but remember a clip about Vrabel, where they asked Bill Bellichek about him becoming a coach, and ill paraphrase, but he more or less said he knew Vrabel would get into coaching, and Vrabel would often come to him with ideas about how to handle certain situations, and Bill B would tell him, "One day when you are a coach, absolutely try it out, but now we are going to do it this way..."

And I cant help but feel like Vrabel has some ego issues, and doesnt understand the concept of being a coach as opposed to being a player.

Does he have a press conference, honestly, where he doesnt mention in some form "Back when I was a player", or "I was undrafted, and was a free agent" or "I played in this league a long time"

This guy was a coordinator for 1 season, was fast tracked to a HC. In my opinion, this requires almost a prodigy level of expertise at something. Like for someone to just be given the HC job after minimal coaching experience, regardless of their playing experience, they should be on the forefront of some new idea. Look at McVey, he was fast tracked, and hes shown to be on a special level offensively, he can like remember every play from every game he coached, like you hear him talk and the guy is on a different level than the average NFL coordinator.

Now theres Vrabel who doesnt seem to understand basic concepts of when to go for it, when to kick a FG, when not to kick a field goal, and I cant help but wonder what did we hire this guy for? Why did JRob need Vrabel, what exactly does Vrabel bring to the table that it was a no brainer to hire him.

The team seems more undisciplined than under previous coaches, there seems to be alot more finger pointing both on the team and in the fan base than under other coaches. Most of us just feel like something is "off" with the team week to week, and if we are being honest most of the time that indicates leadership issues.

Didn't they have one of the best (or at least one of the better) O-lines in the league under Mularkey (at least one year)?

“All Talk” Taylor Lewan getting owned/exposed:

Bills' Phillips rips Titans' Lewan in tweet barrage

Lewan panders to the hipster element in Nashville as if hes some new aged superstar, and he doesnt seem to understand what business he is in. He wants to be this tough nosed macho guy, then gets paid, and dresses up like boss hog, carrying around a stuffed beaver, like "look how eccentric I am". Top athletes are not clowns, you want to be a middle of the road Offensive lineman, and be eccentric like the Colts punter cant think of his name, i think he retired, but you get my point. That dude was a punter, and now is known for his antics and thoughts on things.

You want to be a tough guy, top O-lineman in the league its time to be a man and act like it. Hes got reddit idiots running around calling him "Dad", and he thinks thats how the fan base got it. Dudes crying on video when he pops hot for PED's, gets destroyed vs the bills and goes on twitter and gets into a fight. Totally what the top paid O-Lineman in nfl history should get paid. Totally what leaders do. Im sick of him and his crap, and Ill bet he has something to do with the "culture" of this team. losers carry around a stuffed beaver.
