Humphries gave JR his word and verbally committed before the pats offered him more money. He is a man of his word.
“I was weighing the options between both teams, and obviously they have a lot of success with guys similar to me,” Humphries said. “When I committed to Tennessee, obviously I am a man of my word, and I am going to keep my word there. It is tough, and it is a big decision, and it is a decision that will impact me for the rest of my life.
“I took a lot of thought into that, and having family around me was good. But once I committed to Tennessee I was really excited to be a Titan, and I still am.”

Humphries has seen first hand what happens when Mariota and Winston matched up Mariota throws for perfect 158. rating and Winston gets booed by his own fans, so leaving Tampa for Tennessee was a no brainer. But Mariota has outplayed Brady in both matchups that Tennesse and New England have had, everyone saw last year who was the better QB in 34-10 whipping Titans gave Patriots. Take a closer look at the Patriot - Titans playoff game in 2017 in New England in which Patriots won 35-14, Brady has 101 rating has running backs go over 120 yards rushing goes virtually untouched through out game. Mariota on the other had gets sacked 8 times and suffers sprained knee limiting mobility (Conklin leaves game early with injury) Henry run for 28 yards on 10 carries offering little to no complimentary support Mariota still puts up 98 rating and some horrible calls by officials that help sway game in Patriots favor in 2nd quarter. In my opinion and Football Focus as well Mariota completely outplayed Brady in this playoff game considering cirumstance's

According to the Gollok show today, Humphries didn't want to tie himself to a 41 year old qb who wants to play until he is 45. At the Titans, he will be getting a new qb next season and have a fresh, young qb to toss to him.

so let me get this straight... you think he didnt want to go to the PATRIOTS because of qb uncertainty going forward, but you think he assumes we will be getting a new qb also, and he was okay with that?

No... let me try to make it a bit more simple for you...
Brady is 41 and wants to play for 4 more years. If he signed with Pats he would be stuck with a 45 year old declining Brady.
Wow, that was so hard to understand....
If Brady was retiring now and they were going to draft or bring in a new qb, Humphries would have wanted to go to the Pats.. Instead he will get to play with the new Titans qb starting in 2020.
