He’s a FA after this season. He and his agent wanted a one year deal....he wants to be a starter with the contract that goes with it. I could see him having a good year and then walking to whom ever paid the most....not saying it wouldn’t be the Tits but who knows. The obvious answer is to let the season play out, see how he does, and go from there. If he plays well, franchise and make a move in the draft if opportunity comes up. Otherwise wait 2-3 years pending performance.
If he sucks or is average rest of this year, go all-in for a QB this draft.
If he plays well the rest of the season, he'll want a long-term deal for starter money and there are teams in this league who will overpay.
Freakin' Case Keenum got a two-year, $36 million deal. I'm still shocked that happened.
To franchise Tanny a season while a rookie is groomed will cost $25M. I don't see JRob doing that.
IF (and that's a big IF) Tanny plays out the season healthy looking like he did Sunday, he'll get a long-term deal from the Titans who won't draft a QB in the first. The Titans would likely use a 2nd-3rd on a prospect the slides to groom as the #2 like the Pats did Garoppolo.
If Tanny is signed to a 4-5 year deal, the Titans might not draft at all unless sees a great value slide.

Hellz naw. I've been there, done that, far too many times.I am fine with all of that, do not want to start over with another rookie.
As do I but it gets more complicated if Tanny strings together some good games. If Tanny balls out I think the Titans have to re-sign him.
I voted yes. This is the reason why. Red shirt the rookie and let Tannehill play next year.Keep him draft a qb makes most sense to me. Hire a stellar qb coach also going into next year.
This is his career average play. When the defense holds the opponent to 25 or less, he's very good. 108 QB rating, 28/8 TD/INT ratio, 80% win rate over the past two seasons. Those have been the circumstances we've seen him in, which is why his performance doesn't match his reputation and it feels like the other shoe will drop at any minute. But he's low-key a really good manager. Miami is just a bad team which needed a lot more than that, which is why he's gone. Not because of Jekyll and Hyde, inexplicably inconsistent Mariota play.Hellz naw. I've been there, done that, far too many times.

Assuming he does, I don't know why Tanny would accept a deal without hitting free agency knowing some whack owner will overpay and this is likely his final shot at a long-term deal.
That only leaves the tag. Maybe JRob says he'll only do it once under the pretense that he wants to work out a long-term deal during the 2020 season.
But, honestly, I think his play will return to his career averages or he'll get hurt again which means the Titans will have more leverage.
Amazing the difference when a QB can go through his reads.Something worth noting is that 7 different players caught passes and had double digit yardage against LA. In Mariota's 2 best games, only 3 players eclipsed double digit receiving yardage, and 1 did so on a 75 yard screen pass. It's like, the number of receivers doubled with Tannehill under center.
