I also think Mariotas injury history is a huge concern


That being said, its ironic to talk about players playing through injuries and ignoring that Mariota did the same thing. All while complaining that Mariota is weak because he didnt play through injuries.

It was a bad argument.

  • He dealt with an ulnar nerve issue, which gave him a tingly throwing hand.
  • He suffered a neck stinger against the Colts in Week 11 and re-injured it in Week 16 against the Redskins. That second instance was why he couldn’t play in Week 17.
  • He sustained a cracked vertebra.
  • His plantar fascia had a significant tear during the season, which escalated into a full tear in Week 16.
  • He had a strained oblique.

The ulnar nerve issue in his throwing arm that started when he got stepped on opening day in Miami and left him with a tingly hand was the first big one. He missed two starts with that.

Tore his plantar fascia in week 16 and missed week 17....

Cracked vertebrae was also week one along with the tingles and he missed two starts then.

What week did he break his rib and strain his oblique?
 
Last year his problems were suspect pocket presence and holding ball too long . Mix that with shaky interior O line play and you get a bunch of sacks and qb injuries . Sprinkle in the losses of his two primary targets (walker and Matthews) and a few crucial drops by receivers and there you have it he loses confidence . I know sometimes we’re ridiculously snake bitten but barring any witchcraft we can look forward to possibly having a nice year with Marcus or Tannehill. If Mariota doesn’t get nicked up too bad I don’t see how he doesn’t improve significantly stat wise . No excuses , not sure if Marcus’s pocket presence will ever improve dramatically but if he’s protected within a familiar system and has faith in his targets we’ve seen what he can do . He’s not a franchise saving quarterback but he can be a franchise qb because although his pure passing skills maybe middle of pack , his running and intangibles are elite . If not , we can possibly catch fire with Tannehill . Tanny can fill in without all the pressure that’s on Marcus .He can possibly sit back if protected and sling it downfield better than Marcus and give opposing defenses something they’re not used to seeing from us in recent years . Our schedule looks rough but we have a lot to look forward to regardless who’s behind center . I can’t say enough how happy I am that we have TWO quarterbacks!!!!

Do Landry and Wake suck as well? They are tanking to invest in another pipe dream QB who can carry their sorry asses. Who they are probably going to run into the ground as well

Tanking? Fitz is the wrong guy to tank with, he'll start 5-0 then when he starts to suck,Rosen will come in with a big chip on his shoulder lol

We get it you don't like Mariota.

The issue is that Miami doesn't have Mike Evans, D Jax, Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, a good offensive line, or any of the other nice things he had when people had a favorable view of him. He'll be the bad Fitzpatrick most of the time, which is going to get him benched for the young guy
