Hes a backup because hes the backup.
Even if he plays better than Mariota, he will still start the season as the backup
Not saying he isnt and couldnt be a better starter but it is what it is

LOL really, they paid $5M of it already? Wow this deal looks even better. I mean it's not my money and the cap number is the important part, but still.
As for space, last I heard I thought we were at ~$24M. Kline being cut should free up $3.5M ish after dead cap, so we should be somewhere around $20M with Tannehill? I see others mentioning different numbers though so I'm probably wrong.

Because miami paid 5 of the 7m owed to him we are only on the hook for 2m. So we should be at 25.5m. Still plenty to get another big player

Just giving myself a little credit for a January 2nd post. Been pulling for him all along. I also mentioned earlier this week in shoutbox that the Dolphins were looking for a trade partner. Solid.
A 4th is more than I expected/wanted, but giving our history, totally worth the cost.
Now let's just hope he helps elevate Mariota's game and only sees the field during FGs. Good backups: It's better to have them, and not need them, than need them, and not have them. With all the other moves we've made and with the daft coming up, I'm crossing my fingers for MM to finally make the leap we think he's capable of.
and if he doesn't, resign Tannehill to be our stop-gap/vet QB for whoever we draft in 2020.
