Yeah true I hear that but don’t think Mm has been non-motivated just because the back ups are not quite starting material behind him . It’s more of Just inconsistency , not living up to the hype fully and injury prone. But it’s worth a try to bring in a vet backup with a ton of starting experience

Oh yeah thought i'd put edge in there. This is the most productive 'need fitting' offseason I can recall in recent memory.
 
Just read that the 4th rounder is for next year. So we got Tanny and upgraded our 7th to a 6th this year.
 
Seems like an excellent deal to me.

Take next year out of the picture, what this truly does is gives us a veteran QB for 2020 when we draft a new QB. We don't have to franchise Mariota or sign him to a deal. When his 5th year expires, so does anything and everything. We can then either negotiate for him, IF he proves he can be what we need, or let him go and start on the future.
 
Wonder if this news sent a shiver down Mariota's hand.. sorry I mean spine.

I think he's had issues staying focused. Too worried about getting injured, fumbling, throwing INTs, sacks, etc. And it had caused him to play timid and safe. You see none of those are issues at the end of the game. Mariota isn't mailing it in during the first three quarters, he really just needs something to keep him sharp mentally and feeling a sense of urgency. It will be good for him.

Y'all keep saying "back up QB" like Tannehill isn't as good or better than Mariota.


At the very least- I hope this lights a fire under Mariota's bum ass.

Schefty says miami paid 5 mil out of the 7 mil we owe...frickin ridiculous deal...paying 2 mil for what could be a Nick Foles type backup QB.
This is JRobs best deal of the off season in terms of winning
