Woody is ballin.

Wesley Woodyard with 100% of the snaps against Jacksonville. 12 tackles, 2 TFLs; 1 sack, 1 PBU, 1 hit on the QB.

Top 5 in the NFL in solo tackles (22). Top 4 in total tackles (32).

Jags never enter the red zone and only crossed midfield three times
This is very impressive. After what they did on Bill and the Pats, they didn't even enter our red zone. That is crazy.

To think this team is 2-1, 2-0 in the division, while still missing key starters. Real coaching makes a world of difference, hats off to Vrabel and Co. Hopefully Conklin is back for next week and Mariota is at 100%. Tough matchup, but it would be nice to see them actually be able to use the playbook.

"Henry doesn't pick up yards after contact"
Their definition of contact is probably any bit of contact....someone's toe touches the runners toe, bam he just ran 10 yards after that "contact".

Guy reaches out and lays a pinky on a shoulder pad, woohoo, he just ran 5 more yards after that contact.

I love Henry...but let's not pretend he's a beast that plows through defenders. That's not how he runs.

So what counts more- stats, or the eye test of a bunch of whiny forum posters who complain about everything? The stats support Henry being very good after contact and gaining most of his yards this way.

Again, that's a stat that is probably largely inflated by their definition of contact.

Henry just doesn't run over people very often. That's fine... He's an unconventional RB. I'm a fan but I can clearly see that he's closer to a big ass scat back than he is a Marshawn Lynch type back.

Lol, so we nitpick the YAC statistic just for one player? Because it isn't flashy enough for you? That's beyond ridiculous.

The #Titans have not allowed a first quarter point this season.

I never said I nitpicked it for one player. I'm just assuming that's the way the stat works FOR EVERYONE.

I've watched Derrick Henry play. He is by no means running over people or breaking tackles on a regular basis. Simple as that.

Again, I like Henry...but I know by watching him that he'd rather cut a run back than try to plow through defenders. He goes down pretty easily. He's tall and top heavy. If you think he's Marshawn Lynch, you're not watching Henry run the ball.

The Titans OL only allowed four sacks through the first three games of the season. (3rd fewest in NFL)

Mariota has 39 touchdown passes in the red zone without throwing an interception. #Eagles defense is allowing 1.3 red zone TDs per game which is 6th in the NFL.

That’s the most important stat that can be misleading to people. You can give up a ton of yards but if you can keep the opposing team out of the endzone that’s what matters.
Defense still wins championships.
This is why mediocre QB's can still win. Even the best QB's need a good D.

The best teams will tend to be balanced (obviously) but just in a quick search, in the combined NFL era the average SB winner has had a mean finish of

  • 5.98 Scoring Offense

  • 5.51 Scoring Defense

  • 8.11 Yardage Offense

  • 7.09 Yardage Defense.
Saying defense wins championships is subjective. It's so hard to quantify it in a stat because football is a team sport. Having an elite unit on one side of the ball will always help out the other side. You can hide a bad defense with an offense that can sustain drives, and you can give your offense extra possessions by having an elite defense.

In your quick search I don't imagine you looked up where the SB winners Defense landed in points allowed among the league that year did you? Over 52 SB, I think only 2-3 were outside the top 10.

Per @PFF, 110 of #Titans' 150 rushing yards against #Jags were after contact. Breakdown as follows:
Henry (47 of 57 after contact)
Mariota (36 of 51 after contact)
Lewis (25 of 26 after contact)
Sharpe (2 of 16 after contact)
Everyone wants to crap on Henry, but he's been running really hard this year. Need the OL to get better and get Conklin back, but he's been putting in the tough yards.

Another test this week with the Eagles though, gotta keep grinding.

Titans don't go up in ESPN's power rankings (#20) after defeating their #2 ranked team lol

Not surprised though, the national media is acting like the Fags were on a bye week after they fluffed them up to the Super Bowl the previous week.

All power rankings are garbage but I agree with the sentiment here. I have a feeling that Jax is more likely to drop more than Tennessee moves up though. It's the common slight the AFC South has been getting for the last few years.

We're like 30th in points scored

I believe I saw Dungy had us in his top 5 with Jags Eagles Chiefs and Dolphins. He seems to be giving respect to those teams winning. Although I think the last thing we should really care about is respect by national Media. Until we are putting up 25+ a game, they won’t say much about us.

We may be one of the few franchises that could win the SB and still not get ranked #1 in power rankings.
