The other thing to think about is that if the Texans clinch the division this weekend then they could be resting starters as well week 17.

WIN DIVISION:

1. Win 2 and Texans lose @TB

LAST WILDCARD:

1. Win 2 and Steelers lose 1
2. Win 1 and Steelers lose 2
3. Win Texans and Steelers lose 1
4. Lose 2, Steelers lose 2, and Colts lose1

(This is assuming there isnt some crazy point differentials in last 2 games with Raiders demolishing their last two opponents or Titans getting beat by 50 pts or so....)

Tampa Bay is tough team. They can score. I think they can give the Texans all they want. But we have to find a way to beat the saints

Winston will probably be able to throw against that secondary but I don't see them winning that game, hope I'm wrong. The other issue is beating NO's I think we will be able to score against them to a point but fear we will never be able to stop them from scoring at will. I think we are all but toast for the playoffs at this point. Really wanted to believe we were finally going to break through this year and maybe make a real run, but as usual Titans gonna Titans.

We actually can make the playoffs at 8-8 if the Steelers lose out and the Colts lose one more game to either the Panthers or the Jags.

If you think the Texans are gonna beat the Bucs no matter what, then the Saints game doesn’t matter.

Our easiest path is probably the Texans winning, Jets beating Pittsburgh, and then the Texans rest starters against us, we win and get the wild card.

Sorry, this is completely wrong. see my playoff scenarios above (#1 and #2 under Wild Card).

If the steelers win 1, we have to win 2. N.O. matters regardless of Texans winning.

If the Steelers lose both, we can get in with a win over N.O., again regardless of a Texan win at Bucs.

If the Steelers win out then it doesn’t matter what we do. The Saints game literally means nothing if the Texans beat the Bucs.
I suppose by the time we know if the NO game mattered, we’ll either be eliminated already or in the playoffs. At that time, we can dissect all 16 games on which ones mattered.

As of now, the NO game matters, titans need to win regardless off TB/Hou. A loss just doesn’t eliminate them. A win and a Pit loss sets Tennessee at the #6 spot going into week 17.

Did you guys even use the tool provided on the first page? The NO game doesn't matter. Steelers lose to Ravens, and we beat Texans, and we're in.

Wow- logic fail!

You picked out one scenario and said “see, it doesnt matter”. what you obviously dont get is that it just might matter A HELL OF A LOT. what if we lose to the Texans? plug that into that dummy helper and see what you get if Pitt loses both games. We get in with a win over NO.

Beating NO gives us another path to the playoffs.

Wow- logic fail! we actually used our brains.

and now plug in what happens if Pitt wins one game of their two (a very likely scenario,) We get in with a win over Texans AND New Orleans.

Beating NO gives us two more paths to the playoffs, whether or not you get that.

If Pittsburgh loses both games, then NO still doesn't matter. Because we could lose both games and still get in at 8-8 on the tie-breakers.

If Pittsburgh wins 1 game, then we would get in at 9-7 with tie-breakers by losing to NO and beating Houston. If we beat NO and lose to Houston, we would be out based on tie-breakers with Pittsburgh at 9-7.

The only way the NO game matters at all is if Houston loses to Tampa Bay on Saturday. If Houston beats Tampa Bay, the NO game will then have zero bearing on our playoff berth.

I get that. But Pitt ain't losing both games. We're lucky if they lose either. If Houston loses to Tampa this week, I'm sitting Henry to heal up for Houston rematch.

You would sit Henry if Houston wins in Tampa this week, because then NO is meaningless. If Houston wins, then Saints game can not help or hurt us toward the playoffs.

If Houston loses, then you play Henry, because by beating New Orleans we can then win the division in Week 17.

If Tampa beats Houston, but the Titans lose to NO, then Houston wins the division regardless of what happens in week 17.
