I think the stats thread pointed out that Henry has actually had way more success from the shotgun with MM than lined up behind him.Somebody explain to me why when we are trying to run Henry downhill and kill the clock we ALWAYS line him up beside Mariota (instead of 2-3 yards back)? That seems counter-productive to getting up a head of steam to blast an occupied gap. I mean- they KNOW we're running him and we keep handing him the ball from a dead start. Seems like we'd be much better served to hand it to him with a head of steam.
Is it a proven way to make the hand off less risky for a fumble? SMH.
Some of these calls or play formation is on vrabel and art. Both are still rookies in my opinion and I'm not a fan of taking points off the board. I would have liked us kicking the FG since we were already up double digits.For real. But to throw ice water- MM8 got a bit careless with the ball handling toward the end. My only criticism is some of the formations and play calling while we were clock killing- and that's not Mariota. Overall- he got rid of the ball MUCH better today. When he does that- he's serviceable. And he's always better in the up tempo stuff.
