You can point to a specific example here or there. Rex Grossman, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson.
You know what all of those guys had in common? Greatness across the rest of the roster. Like, Hall of Fame greatness at several positions.
There are two ways to win a Super Bowl; have a great QB or have greatness at probably close to double digit positions. Do we have a great QB? No. Do we have an elite roster? No. So, given those two statements, is Mariota a QB we can win a Super Bowl with? No.

About as much as a random scrub QB playing in a Super Bowl.
Rex Grossman threw 23 TDs and 20 INTs the season he went to the Super Bowl. Great job by the OC, right?

I agree, but at the same time.. I was listening to a radio show the other day and they were discussing the Titans and the "expert" said basically, the biggest problem with Mariota is he is just good enough to win 8-9 games a season. So you are stuck in limbo. Not good enough to make a deep run, but not bad enough to improve through the draft.
I disagree 100% with your final analysis... clearly Titans can win with MM8 ... they have proven it

zero talking heads even watch Titan games. Except Solomon Wilcots... LOL

You mean what other great players were on that team?
Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester, Olin Kreutz, Tommie Harris, Lance Briggs, and Charles Tillman.
Then you have solid starters like Alex Brown, Adewale Ogunleye, and Daniel Manning.
7 out of 11 starters on defense were equal or better than what the Titans line up with every week.
@ICBW says all the time if Peyton Manning's skeleton can win a Super Bowl so can Marcus Mariota. He forgets or ignores the defense Denver fielded that year. Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Malik Jackson, Derek Wolfe, Danny Trevathan, Chris Harris Jr, Bradley Roby, and Aqib Talib.
So yes, there is a way we can win a Super Bowl with Marcus Mariota. We just need to field an otherworldly defense. Do we have Von Miller or DeMarcus Ware type players on the roster going in to 2019? Nope.

Otherworldly is pretty excessive. And despite how bad Mariota has been, Manning was actually much worse his final season.
Pretty good players are needed without a doubt but there’s also a fair mix of players that weren’t considered “good”until after being a part of those teams.
The titans D is pretty good now, if they were to make a SB run, those players become league wide known as “good”. How many of those broncos players weren’t good until after they won the SB and in some cases, completely disappeared when they didn’t have the other talent around them.
All that said, Mariota could be the QB to win a SB with Tennessee. He’s good enough to not turn the ball over and as long as Henry runs well, the pressure and even game plan around Mariota is gone.
To be clear, a SB win still doesn’t make me sold on Mariota.

Going in to 2019, do the Titans have a single elite player on the roster? I'd say no.
Jurrell Casey is the only great player on the roster.

Now we get back to the subjectivity of “elite” or HoF or whatever.
Is 5-6 pro-bowlers enough?
That wouldn’t even mean career good players but guys that just happen to put up their best season at the right time.
If the D keeps scoring to a top 5 level and the offense doesn’t turn the ball over, the titans are very much in the mix for the AFC.

my point was never about the QB, its about OC's making work with what they have. The OC set up the offense where if Rex did enough not to lose they would win, and probably win the superbowl if they're not playing a top 3 all time QB. Closest we've had was Mike Heimerdinger, and we went 13-3 with a QB who threw 12 TDs and 7 Ints. Our defense isn't as good as that team, but its being built very similar.
