Titans do have one one of the least home
Field advantages in football. Used to be the best.

Now granted besides the players and team ... the theory I heard was the stadium is too perfectly / centralized located to downtown; thus making it easy for the all drunk out-of-towners to get to the stadium - easy access ...?
nah thats just excuses, ppl just dont show up that much for the home team

How about that Titans pass rush?! Shocking that we didn’t have a single sack with no Casey, Jones, Landry or Wake against their starting O line haha.

This game meant absolutely nothing and kudos to Vrable for pulling Mariota on a rainy day after the WRs dropped 2 of his 3 passes. Nothing to gain.

I wonder if the coaches are getting rid of the dress rehearsal and not playing starters to force the hand of owners wanting to keep 4 full price preseason games. I mean this game was barely AAF quality.

More and more teams are getting away from the "dress rehearsal" in the 3rd game... But they have to have games to evaluate players on the bubble and get players that need the reps live action.

Which is why you make it two preseason games instead of four. I like the idea of adding another few playoff teams/games. That would be waaaaaay better.

The only real concern I have is how overmatched the starting OL looked.

Garrett must have loved what he saw last night.

So let's see if your logic makes sense. You claim he was benched in the pre-season dress rehearsal, so obviously he didn't start week 1, right?

Oh wait, he did. You're trying to suggest things are what you'd like them to be...not what is really happening. Big difference!

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

ABC VORTEX DETECTED!!!

DO NOT ENGAGE that guy. When he loves/hates an individual player his logic circuits get fried. Remember- he's the guy that spewed for YEARS how everybody else was wrong about Kevin Dodd. Kept on and on and on. Crazy illogical. He's doing the same thing now about Mariota but in the other direction. Just no middle ground with that guy.

I get everybody dismissing its preseason. And yes- the Steelers did appear to have a different approach to last nights game. They were blitzing the ENTIRE game. They were rotating their DL starters deep into the 3rd quarter.

But there is NO DENYING our interior OL had their azz handed to them the ENTIRE game. Saffold and Pamphile were getting spun around so bad they should have been wearing a poodle skirt. And that's a couple of games where this guy has looked like chit against the other teams "1s". Friggin turnstiles.

I've lowered my expectations for the season until I see that interior OL improve. I hope Vrabel loops the plays where they looked like chit and just starts the team meeting them those plays looping. For about 10 minutes.

Sounds like Vrabel knows what's going on:

Titans offensive line struggles with Steelers pressure in preseason loss

Saffold might be what concerns me the most. Got owned last week by a rookie on the Patriots and looked like hot garbage tonight. This is our prized free agent? Looks like the Rams knew exactly when to let him go.

Just ridiculous to blitz more than single digits in the preseason.

No wonder they pulled some starters early... Pittsburgh was headhunting.

I'm glad Pittsburgh did it because it just underscores you need to actually do shiot in the pre-season games to be ready to roll on day one. Both on offense and on defense. We were completely unprepared inspite of Vrabel admitting he knew they are like this.

But two things, aside from the need for reps. First, I hope this utter domination by Pittsburgh on the blitz doesn't influence Vrabel to add more protection on week one and shut the offense down even more. We have got to play wide open this year.

And second, I don't like the idea the Vrabel shriveled from the fight last night to protect his QB. The we need to protect our players and be safe mode is a loser mentality. The team needed to get reps and didn't get them, and they need to be aggressive and take the fight from kickoff. All too often we are fighting uphill with this team to get back into games. Take a frontrunner approach please.

No. You don't need to do stuff like that constantly in the preseason. Do it a few times a game... otherwise your intent is to do damage.

The risk/reward isn't there in a rainy preseason game. We clearly didn't want to even suit up last night which sucks as a fan but it is what it is. What if we had someone blow up their knee last night trying to play tough guy in a PS game?

The what if "the team is totally unprepared for week 1 and will lose" is far greater than the "what if someone gets hurt" if you ask me. Winning is more important and the team has shown all preseason it's not prepared to kick off week 1. And they've shown that historically when they play like this, they lose out of the gate. So there is precedent. Pittsburgh was who we were fighting with for the last playoffs spot and they looked so much more prepared than we did. One game is a big deal. The only good thing is that Cleveland is probably overrated.

I don't see this team playing "wide open" on offense, especially with Lewan out the first four games. I thought the coaching staff has been pretty clear the offense runs through Henry

Think Henry is better in space. So added protection is just going to bog things down. He's so big and fast he can beat one or two guys for big runs if we open it up. He's a good guy to have fall forward for 3 extra yards too, but I prefer that guy busting the big runs and Henry had two or three of those, with one or two getting called back on penalties last year. So he can certainly move it downfield in chunks. Henry has been underused in his career so I want 20-25 carries, but I also want Mariota pushing that ball downfield with options.
