I'm a UT fan and it would be hard for me to pull for Hurd. I've purposely not watched any of his Baylor film just because.

All that to say, from what I saw of him (most of the time) at UT, he had some skill. I know he wants to be a WR, but with his body type, I think his best position could be TE. He obviously has learned to catch the ball well, plus when he was playing RB he was a good blocker when picking up the blitz. Why not combine the two and put him at a position of semi-need and see how it goes? If it doesn't work, it was only a 6th or 7th rounder. However, this is the only scenario where I'd want him. I just don't see him as a WR.
You should watch some of his Baylor tape. He dropped some weight and made a great transition.

If you read what went down with Butch, you'd understand why Hurd left. Butch was a pretty bad coach, but was probably a worse human in his tenure as UT HC.

I can picture Montrez Sweat as the Titans pick.
We would almost definitely have to trade up to get him, but he's one of the only players I'd consider doing it for. He could have a Kearse like impact on this team.

I have read that and am sympathetic to what Hurd went through and his situation. But you don't quit on your team in the middle of the season - ever. He was literally like 5 games away from being able to declare for the draft and put that mess behind him, but he couldn't stick it out 5 games?

I mean Butch completely jeopardized his health if what was reported is true. So that bridge was burned. And he apparently didn't want to be a RB anymore due to the injury concerns, so it seems doubtful he'd have been drafted at another position having played nothing but RB in college. Transferring out was the right call. It just looked bad because it was in the middle of the season. Sure he could have handled it better, but he was a 20 year old kid. However, the entire situation falls solely in the hands of Butch Jones.

He wanted to switch to WR to prove he could be one in the NFL. Finishing as an RB at Tennessee and declaring as a WR would have probably meant he never got a shot in the NFL. But transferring and putting up a good season at Baylor as a WR helped his chances tremendously. He was never built to be an NFL RB

That's just not true. I had seen early mocks with him going as high as the 2nd round as a RB. Kiper had him ranked as the 3rd RB that season behind Fournette and Chubb.

Kiper high on several Vols for 2017 NFL Draft

Unless 12 more big names come onto the board (18/30 personal visits accounted for) these are the players it's going to come down to for our first round pick..... [process of elimination of TOTAL VISITS down to 1st round potential]

EVERY SINGLE 1st round pick (conklin, davis, jackson, evans) that JROB has made, has made SOME SORT of visit that WALTERFOOTBALL tracked. Most Recent of RASHAAN EVANS being a Pro Day interview/workout...

so by the elimination game as of 4/17 it's:

***Brian Burns, DE/3-4OLB/OLB, Florida State (PRI)
Jaylon Ferguson, DE/3-4OLB, Louisiana Tech (PRI)
***Chris Lindstrom, G, Boston College (WOR)
***Ed Oliver, DT, Houston (PRI)
Jachai Polite^, DE/3-4OLB/OLB, Florida (COM, PRI)
***Montez Sweat, DE/3-4OLB/OLB, Mississippi State (COM)
Jerry Tillery, DT/3-4DE/NT, Notre Dame (PRI)
***Christian Wilkins, DT/3-4DE/NT, Clemson (PRO)

*** denotes SURE FIRE 1st Rounder

[and notice... no damn NOAH FANT or TJ HOCKENSON]
[2-3 of those are early 2nd rd guys at best... Polite, Tillery, Ferguson]

Oliver and Sweat will be long gone by 19, Wilkins and Burns could be picked already leaving us Lindstrom.

Great, a guard in the first, just what we all wanted.

I'm staring to think we trade up again to get our guy, whoever that may be.

I also find it intriguing that there is like 1 offensive player on that list for every 10 defensive players.

It is interesting there is no big time TE or WR here...but aren't we missing like 12 slots from our 30 visits?

I do not think (I hope not) that Lindstrom is a sure fire 1st round pick. I have him as a 3rd round prospect and Im concerned the Titans may over draft him because they know him so well...that goes for many BC players.

Sweat, Wilkins, Oliver, and Burns should be gone...so who does that leave you with? No one who's a lock first rounder.

Burns, Oliver, Wilkins and Tillery are possible along with Lawrence. Burns is all over the place. Oliver is a hard position projection. Wilkins is finding no love based on athletic testing vs others (like Lawrence who ran the same 40 time but dozens of lbs heavier) and Tillery/Lawrence are all over the board. Some think they are top 15 picks and others think they are 2nd rounders.

I find it hard to believe we haven't met with Fant or Hockenson or a few of the wr's at the combine or at private workouts that haven't been listed. It is a real possibility (and need) to know if they are worthy of that pick. There is a real possibility an offensive player(s) are the best value at 19.

really not a fan of this list.... sweat will obviously not be there at 19 and no one else is too exciting.
