First, he has traits we like. high motor guy, passionate football player and plays with an alpha dog spirit on the field. He can tackle, he's good on stunts and blitzes and has some pass rush as an EDGE player. He can be a good special teams player and he can drop and run with TE's down the field.

I don't think we'll see much of him on defense this year unless we need him on special teams units or as another pass rusher. But he certainly has potential. 6'2" is a little short but he has LONG arms to make up for it. 250lbs is the same weight as a lot of lighter OLB's (Burns was 249lbs). He needs more play strength but that's just time in an NFL weight room.

Right now he'll be a special teams guy. I do wonder if the Titans would consider moving him to ILB as a potential replacement for Woodyard down the line. He seems pretty comfortable being moved all over the place to rush from the EDGE, blitz from ILB or cover. Any way you slice it, by round 5...if you find a good special teams player, you're doing fine. If he becomes anything more than that - especially a potential starter, you're doing great!

I think with Correa and Finch knowing the D, he'd have to beat one of them out and not sure he can do that right now. BUT...we don't know how many snaps Wake can take a game so we might want a 5th LB up.

His arm length is insane for 6'2. A good problem to have.

I think he's solid. He may not become a great pass rusher, but he's got the effort and athleticism to become a plus run defender and a guy who can clean up if he has a good OLB opposite of him, or if we pull ahead and go into a blitzing frenzy. He never should have fallen past the 3rd round.

Not good if we're expecting him to become stronger.

Long arms are good for deflecting a blockers hands and breaking free, but once he engages with those ropes he's lost his edge.

When this guy gets blocked up he often folds.

Why shouldn't we expect him to get stronger? Why would increasing his strength not help him?

And you know increasing strength isn't just making his arms stronger! NFL strength will help him take on those blocks, stack and shed. And long arms is one of the ways you can have a leverage advantage over a blocker. If you can reach him and he can't reach you, you can lock him out and control him. gives him an advantage once he's strong enough to use it. And he does do it sometimes on tape...just not quite enough.

Getting stronger should help him a lot. Adding more pass rush moves will too.

In general, if you can give the 11th pick in round 1 problems, you have potential. Doesn't guarantee him anything, but the potential is there. But first, he needs to make the roster!

Length is a coveted trait for edge rushers. But he doesn't seem to know how to use it. Which is what will probably keep him from getting too many snaps in defense in year 1

Ive already determined I dont like this pick, dont try to talk sense into me
Would have much rather taken Ferguson in the 3rd and waited until the 5th for a guard. Still can't believe we passed on Ferguson. Although it was spilled milk by this point and I'm not sure who else we could have gotten in the 5th that would have been better.

Ferg tested poorly, slow and nonathletic

Give me productive and slow, over testing off the charts with little production any day. He's the all time leading sacker in the history of college football. He may not be all pro, but we are going to regret not taking him, especially since he ended up in Baltimore.

His arms aren't that long

Yes they are. His arm length is about 34 1/2”. Jonah Williams and Dillard have arms in the 33” range. He’s also only 6’2!!!

Those are LONG arms. So he has some elite traits which he just needs to learn how to utilize better. But before that...he needs to get stronger and turn into a special teams weapon. Then earn some pt!!!

I did not realize lol

Thought they were not that long

So he worked with him pre draft...

Didn’t like him but still drafted him in the 5th over Long??

Hmm
He didn't like him, he just liked everyone remaining in the draft less. Rumor has it he can't even look at David Long without bursting into angry tears.
