What I’m hearing from my source close to the team is that both Vrabel and Robinson are wanting to bench Mariota. However, they are being overridden by Amy Adams Strunk, who sees Mariota as the face of the franchise. She feels they have invested too much in Mariota to start all over again with a new quarterback.
Seriously doubt that's actually the case. She has no incentive to do that. We wouldn't have traded for Tannehill.

Friday Presser Notes

Vrabel said the team isn’t considering making a change at the quarterback position.

After the game, Vrabel was asked how close he was to putting back-up Ryan Tannehill into the game and he responded, “Not very.”

Mariota's Totals

1st Half : 6 of 16 for 62 yards
2nd Half : 17 of 24 for 242 yards (It didn't feel like we were able to move the ball at all but this is a good chunk for a single half)

Total : 23 of 40 (57.5%) passes for 304 yards, 6 rushes for 34 yards, 0 TD 0 INT

On the bright side, we only have 1 more game without our LT and the upcoming defenses aren't as good as our first three games.

So many damn issues, offense couldn't get into rhythm because MM8 missed easy throws, line couldn't block for passing plays to set up or couldn't block to set up runs for DH, Art being a rookie arse and calling ridiculous plays such as running on 2nd and long after a failed run on 1st. Oh yeah, how about all the BS penalties that screwed the team. I hate losing...

You summed up my feelings precisely. The Titans team on the field last night was bad on every level.

It's a huge letdown after the off-season. I foolishly expected to see them take the next step this year, but nope!

Same Ole Titans.

It really sucked last night, people at Buffalo Wild Wings lost interest and started focusing more on the college football game. Refs really made watching game play unbearable plus the team just sucked

I dont have a problem with the 2nd and 19 run, I had a problem with Lewis being the one to run the ball.

The reason is, we run Henry and we might get 8-10 yards. We pass the ball and Mariota is going to dump off a 2 yard pass. Either way we end up 3rd and long, for Mariota to once again dump off a 2 yard pass and still end up well short of the 1st down. Of course it will look good on his stats because it is a completion with positive yards.

Said this in a different thread...

I was not a big fan of drafting MM8 (or anyone in the top rounds that year), but I really grew to like his personaliy and work ethic over the years.

That said, IMO the unfortunate reality is that
MM8 is not our franchise QB. This season the OL issues are not helping admittedly, but, honestly at this point, I have 0 confidence that he could put our team on his back and win a game on his own (which McNair did often. and actually VY did occasionally). That being the case, our next draft priority (unfortunately, since this will be our 4th attempt to replace McNair) should be utilized to get a strong QB in house.

Words cant even describe how bad his pocket awareness is. That with terrible play calling/design. This team doesn't stand a chance against any decent defense.

I think the direct quote was at the moment. My personal opinion, Tennessee loses on the road next week in Atlanta and Marcus puts on another forgettable performance. Tanny starts the next game at home against the Bills

Also, I don't think Vrabel is married to Mariota. He never drafted him. And Vrabel has done some good things with the team since taking over. I doubt he would tip his hand regardless. Tannehill will start at some point.

I agree with this . Vrabel is great at protecting players and remaining tight lipped before the media.

I have been a long time backer of Mariota (maybe I just wanted to believe we wouldn’t need to restart) but after the last 19 games I just don’t have faith any more. I don’t think Tanney is the answer but Mariota certainly isn’t.
