I don't really agree with your take fundamentally. Wilkins is NOT a power player. One of his few flaws is facing double teams. Simmons will stack your double team and keep your LB clean. Wilkins is not strong enough to stack at this point. He beats double teams by splitting them. He's a quick and shifty player who plays with great leverage, agility and angles. He doesn't really bull rush, he gets guys off balance and takes an angle on them and beats them. He's active against the run because he's hard to square up and just block. He's pretty good with his hands but his agility and shiftiness get guys off him because a lot of OL tend to lean.

Hiss length is a bit subpar...and that's always a concern...but he's not a guy who wins with length or power in college. He wins with his burst, agility, movement skills, hands and a high energy always on motor. It's also nice that Lawrence got more double teams freeing him up for more 1v1 situations (also freed up Ferrell).

Please. Double team wilkins all day. See how that works out with Casey on the same line.

He can help create havock, and between he and Casey, should be able to prevent QBs from stepping up, thus giving wake and Landry an extra second to get home.

Or feel free to float a hastily thrown duck and let byard and vacarro and the back end have a good chance at one.

This guy would make us better .

If Wilkins was 21, he'd be a top 10 pick. But you have to wonder if he can overpower and dominate those OL in college simply because he's 24. Still pretty rare agility for a DL.
Is Dexter Lawrence a better prospect? I see Wilkins going before him in a few mocks.

Harold Landry 1st round talent, 2nd round pick

Kevin Dodd 2nd round pick..2nd round talent?
Landry has some 1st rd qualities, but he went in the 2nd for a reason

anyone who gets eaten alive vs the run isnt gonna be a 1st day pick

and anyone like Lawrence who wont play on 3rd downs also isnt worth a 1st day pick

I think you are being stubborn about that. He holds his own against takes and can make plays like this:

He could be a very good run defender. Von Miller is the best, and he's the same size

chad wheeler is possibly the worst Tackle in the entire league

and thats not your traditional run play

when a linemen has his sights set on Landry they usually creamed him

I think you misinterpreted my post. ABC was suggesting Wilkins may not be good in the NFL because he was just overpowering them because he’s a couple of years older. I was making the point that he isn’t an excellent prospect because of his strength but because of his movement skills. I really like Wilkins and think he’s a top 10 pick.

I think he’d be a great partner to Casey when we go 4 man pass rush in the nickel. I don’t think we get him without moving up.

I think Landry fell due to a big drop in his production his final yes in college. Combine that with an ankle injury which could take away his excellent take off and you get a player who falls!

He’s not as bad as you make him out to be...but he needs to get stronger, use his hands better...and learns to stack and shed better. But while he’s learning...we won’t mind him getting some tackles for loss when we occasionally have him shoot a gap against the run.

I'm definitely at ease with him being able to learn from one of the best pass rushers of this decade rather than two guys who were OK at best being 10 sack guys (rak and morgan.)

Also, Cameron comes in at a crucial time --- as you know we're taking an EDGE at some point in this draft.....

So basically you lock Landry and your EDGE you take this year, in a room with Cameron Wake.... and do the 'Dark Knight' approach...... throw one broken stick in the room... lmao

I know. I was just saying that if his weakness is being double teamed, I'm good with people exploiting that weakness.

I only now got to really watching his tape, and man he's good. He's got great play speed for 315 pounds and seems to be effective at utilizing it

He SHOULD be long gone...but he's all over the place with different teams and that COULD lead to him falling. Still, I don't see him falling to us.

Definitely a pipedream scenario, but if he's there they better take him!
