0% chance that Smith gets fired mid season unless that offense just completely bottoms out. He has about 8 games with Tannehill to audition for his job next season but there's no way we can draft a rookie QB next season with an OC on the hotseat.
However, we can promote an oc with no track record to oversee a qb we drafted to become a franchise qb?

Why not we did it with Mariota?

Why not we did it with Mariota?
because as bad as Art is as an OC, Mariota was 10x worse as a qb. It seems pretty apparent to most people.

Art will either be fired or be willing to go back to TE coach. He knew the deal when he took over as OC. It wasnt because he showed signs of brilliance, it was to give Mariota one last chance. Mariota screwed the pooch, so Art is no longer needed in that capacity.

Unpopular opinion but I actually think he's doing a good job. Even with Mariota, he had some great schemed plays, especially in the redzone. Could he improve on 1st and 2nd down? Certainly. However what do you guys expect? Not everyone can be Sean McVay the first time they call plays. Even McVay sometimes out McVay's himself and struggles.

It is fair to say he Art has been somewhat limited by what the offence can do. He's been able to open it up way more now with a different QB. Let's see how he progresses from here. I'm expecting to now see some shots down field with Kalif Raymond in the line up. Art is earning his job.

We shouldn't of hired Arthur Smith in the first place but no OC worth his salt could fix Mariota. His problems aren't schematic, they are mechanical.

First question I have is the O line really that bad, is the talent there or not ? We know the faces, obviously the guard play is a disappointment to be kind. Arthur
must be pretty happy with the way the O line coach is running his schemes because there is no changes happening there.

That leads me to believe that Mr Smith should own it.

1. the oline is not as bad as Mariota Minions try to make it out to be, but it still isn't good.
2. part of the reason is because we do have several injured (and suspended) oline.
3.If you watch any other team play you will see them dealing with almost the exact same issues with their oline as we have. It is the NFL, defense is getting paid millions upon millions to break the pocket, and they do.
4, Most of the sacks that the Mariota Minions blame on the line is only because Mariota holds the ball too long AND runs into the defense.

Seems like a very smart thing to do lmao. Let's give our potential franchise qb a guy who has never ran an offense or called plays at any level lol.

Have you seen the routes he's designed with our wrs?! It's terrible. I saw one play on 4th down where he had all wrs running a 5 yard slant into the middle of the field. And tanny got sacked turnover on downs

People still think it was Mariotas fault? If we lose him and he goes somewhere and kills it because of Arthur smith, everyone should be fired immediately. Including the owner. Amy should resign for allowing it to happen.

He won’t, he might make a decent backup, but he’s not a franchise QB.

You blame it all on Art, why couldn’t Mariota perform under LeFluer either? LeFleur is looking pretty good calling plays with a hall of fame QB. MM8 has had 5 years, if he was going to kill it he would have done it by now.

Rodgers has already complained several times about their play calling. Rodgers killed it today didnt he lol

He did perform pretty well at times.....even though we didn't have rishard matthews, delanie Walker, Jonnu, etc. Mariota and Lafluer did what they could. 15th on 3rd down conversions was a good start. Takes time to build a cohesive offense. Mariota was struggling at times this year, but you have to remember there are a bunch of new pieces too.Takes time to gel.

The real question is will vrabel actually fire him? If so will they promote someone already on the staff to take his place? Or will they actually go get a legitimate offensive coordinator?
