It’s the player fans who ruin everything.
more like the player haters

They make it so easy. Defending average....Talk about low standards...It’s annoying

You guys need to complain about the haters as well, ABC and 520.

If you truly want to consider yourself to be in the middle.

Oh I do at times. With the Tannehill thing, etc....520 with Mett etc. I don’t discriminate....but to defend average in here like dude has been Patrick Mahomes or some chit. Guy got outplayed by Josh F ing Rosen damn near in his first year! Think about that.

easy to compare.. Marcus always hurt, Steve always hurt....

one thing that Marcus has only had for a full season and a half, that Steve always had..... a 1,000 yard rusher...

and steve also had three of the best receivers in Titans history to work with from 99 to 04 - Kevin, Drew, and Derrick

Marcus has had the privilege of working with below average wide receivers his entire NFL career - guys that don't fit a scheme, and were a failed by product of a shotty scouting department and gm. ( the former being one thing JROB made sure he cleared house on)

Steve had Frank Wycheck from 96 - to 01 (remained on team until '03, until stats plateaued and retired) ..... which resembles Marcus - who's had Delanie, up until last year due to a freak injury..

point being, Steve flourished because of a stout oline, 1,100 yard rusher every year, great te, and dependable receivers..

Problem with Marcus, is he's always had ONE, or TWO..... but never ALL... If we can bring all those components together, Marcus can have McNair 03 type years (with even more stats, as the game has evolved enough to support them)

We're all just angry because there is no football right now and it's hot as b**** outside. So we're taking it out on the easy target. This seems like the year that things will finally come together. Surely the football gods will allow us to get one healthy season out of the guy that we appoint as the franchise QB. FFS, 2002 was the last year we got 16 games out of one

God I hope so. I think every year may be the year we turn the corner. Every year those hopes wither. I guess I am jaded at this point.

I want Mary to throw for 4k, 28 TDs, 9 ints and then we franchise tag him with the hopes of making him our long term QB.

Two things to consider.

First, to reach 4k yards, he's gonna need about 500 attempts minimum...and he's never been given that many opportunities in any year of his career. As well as Drew Brees played this year, he didn't hit 4k yards because he had too few attempts...and that's with a ridiculous near 75% completion. Only way he hits 4k is if they let him throw more (and of course, he stays healthy).

Second, your idea about franchise tagging him is possibly not the best idea in terms of the effect it will have on the team. I understand your rationale and it's a perfectly understandable concept...make him do it again. But you have two problems. First, the franchise tag will likely be at LEAST $25 mil next year. It was $23mil+ this year. So the debate is...do you sign him to a long term contract at $25mil/yr or just tag him. Tagging sounds like the better deal except...one, you might be able to get him at a lower avg/yr cost. Second, that's a $25mil cap hit to tag him and that creates problems quickly when we will have some other significant players to re-sign. Singing him long term is MUCH better for our cap if it's backloaded, has an early year to get out and spreads his guaranteed money out. Also, tagging Mariota means we can't tag anyone else...and you lose all leverage over any other players you want to keep...like Byard.

I know this won't be a 'problem' in your current view of Mariota...but suppose he has a good season, you tag him and he has another good one. If you tag him again it'll be at least $30mil...so you give him all the leverage in the negotiation for a long term deal instead of the other way around.

So it's not so cut and dry since there are ramifications across the team in terms of cap, depth, leverage in negotiations, etc.and all of these things affect winning. Risk either way.

I’ve said the same things man. They easily forget that and say “I’m a broken record” or that everyone knows this etc.....They constantly throw stats, excuses, everyone else sucks, and that I’m a quote “hater”. Why? Because I State the obvious that he’s a .500 QB that’s often injured? It’s nuts....

<yawn...>

You get called a broken record when you literally are posting the same concept multiple times in short amounts of time. We read it the first time...no need to repeat and repeat. Plus, it's not the first time you've brought it up. It's already previously been discussed ad nauseum.

Additionally, you make the same insult over and over again. There are people who hate Mariota on this board and I'm sure some who are overly optimistic. But your rhetoric that everyone who doesn't hate him, all love him and are then subjected to your same childish insult is you being a broken record...since I've pointed this out to you before. There are those of us in the middle who see reality. Don't lump us in to either side because that just shows your hate. You know better!

And yes, when you jump on the bandwagon of hate posts by others...expect people to point this out.

Yes you have made some middle of the road posts about Mariota, but they appear to be far outweighed by you jumping on with those that have a sharply negative view of Mariota.

He has 8 out of 14 games in which he throws for fewer than 165 yards and 8 games in the same season in which he throws 0 TDs

Also 10 games in '17 in which he failed to surpass a QB rating of 80. That's not good QB play

It's nice that you focus on his by far worst season...but then you get the numbers wrong.

For clarification, and for a fair representation, he played in 17 meaningful games (15 regular season and 2 post season). 1 of the regular season games he only threw 10 passes before he was injured so I'm not gonna count that game. So he had 8 games of 88-110 qb rating and 8 games below starter level.

Not good enough. But again, you only cherry pick negative stats...but at least be accurate. Last time you gave him the wrong qb rating.

Additionally, if he's gonna throw more TD passes, he needs more attempts and a higher TD% per attempt.

I'm sick of explaining things to you. I was talking about his two most recent seasons. Who cares what he did in a 3 win season where he missed 1/4 of the games

Well, if you want to look at him as a qb, looking at his career so far would give you more insight, not less. By I understand why you want to ignore anything positive he's done since it doesn't fit your current perception or argument.
