View attachment 19569cut after June 1st, we save 27 million with only a 9 million cap hit. It is very conceivable that we cut him and get that 27 million back

If we cut him this year, we would owe 57 million. 38 million post June 1st. No way they could swing that. Next year is likely. They aren't going to cut him
They would have already
Next off-season, yes.If we cut him this year, we would owe 57 million. 38 million post June 1st. No way they could swing that. Next year is likely.
the only reason Tannehills cap hit is so high this yr is that we did restructure it last yr in order to be able to sign Julio. We signed Dupree to a big contract last yr and brought Landry back this yr on a big contract….we have Brown and Simmons to sign to huge deals in the next 2 yrs…I’d rather keep those 2 than throw big money at a random FA….and I’m pretty sure our gm knows that he can create 30mil in cap space if he needs it by simply restructuring contracts….got to have some cap room to navigate through the season
Ryan Tannehill
has the highest cap hit
of all qbs in the entire league
excuse that if you want, but something is very very very very very wrong about that picture.
Exactly why they chose not to restructure again this year. They are washing their hands of him unless he takes us to at least the AFC Champ Game. It's the consequences of restructuring a deal. People need to realize this. They often act like restructuring makes a problem go away, it doesn't. It just kicks the can down the road, making it worse in a future year.
Basically, it's like they are taking a loan out against a future cap year.
Damn that contact for Autry is sweeeeet! Way to go JRob.View attachment 19569cut after June 1st, we save 27 million with only a 9 million cap hit. It is very conceivable that we cut him and get that 27 million back
You do realize that the reason this is "very very very very very wrong" is due for the exact same thing you're saying you want the Titans to do and someone should get fired for?Ryan Tannehill

You can't have it both ways. You can't manipulate the cap without dealing with some consequences.
yep somehow can early designate a 1June cut nowThey aren't going to cut him
They would have already

The Rams do what? The Rams do!
Exactly!
If you want the team to manipulate the cap and make big signings then this is what happens. Can't have it both ways.
You do realize that's for next year, not this upcoming season right
ok, then if that is what happensExactly!

ok, then if that is what happens
give me an example of a team that has the highest qb hit in the NFL with a qb like Ryan Tannehill....
I wont hold my breath, because only Tennessee has that problem.
