I don't see any way we pick up Davis option. He just hasn't earned it.
Is the option based on where you are drafted or what position you play?

Gotta be honest. I think Conk is the odd man out. We would have so much money tied up in our offensive line. Not many teams in the NFL have over $30 million locked up on their tackles.
I think the plan of attack is:
Sign Henry probably 4/60
Tag Tannehill (id be surprised if they committed to him long term)
Sign Ryan 3/35
Let Conk walk.
Re sign Kelly, Firkser.
Sharpe will be interesting. I think we will find out what JRob and Vrabel think of Corey this off-season. If we sign Sharpe, Corey is for sure not getting his option picked up and will be gone. If we don’t re sign him then I think CD sticks around for a little longer. I think Sharpe is gone though.
Cut Walker and Lewis. Y’all are crazy if you think we cut Butler. Ain’t happening. He’s arguably our best corner. We aren’t going to make our secondary worse this offseason. That wouldn’t be smart.
No. What reason would anyone want him around for?If we could get marcus back for 6-7 mil a year would yall do it?

That is super expensive for a backup.
I don’t know much better will be out there and the team still takes a cap hit for cutting him early. If you could take the 8 million from cutting Butler and use it to sign someone better, then you're not making the secondary worse

I want to see butler stay anyway. Thought he played well before the injury and being just a hand/wrist injury, I’ve got no reason to think the injury will cause decline.
Gabbert was signed for 4 mil.It is? Didn't we sign gabbert for 6 mil? And tannehill for like 8?
“Amazing”? Haven’t seen anyone say this. But he's gonna be 30. He's not getting any faster from here on out. He was never just a lock down corner for us either. Idk where these delusions of him being amazing are coming from lol

Gabbert was signed for 4 mil.
THill had most of his salary paid by Miami and we got a steal.
Both were in a different position as far as Mariota’s concern too.
JRob spent a little more for Gabbert to replace Cassel as a backup. Cassel proved he couldn’t do anything.
THill was traded for as an upgrade to Gabbert who proved he can’t do anything.
The real necessity for backup was pushed year after year that Mariota was missing games for injury.
IF we are gonna consider THill an injury risk (I’m not), then I can see spending more for a backup but Mariota has already proven he’s not good in this system (or at all) so why spend the money on a known issue than at least an unknown possibility?

He’s been good and paired with Ryan and Jackson (and byard) it’s been one of the top secondaries, if not the best in the NFL.
Since Ryan is the FA and likely more espensive and doesn’t cause a cap hit, it would make more sense to let him walk than cut butler. We could argue the performance of each, but I think both played pretty well when the other was on the field.
Got no beef with the personal fanhood but that just seems like trying to mold a square peg to fit in a round hole.I hear you, I think mariotas potential value outside of being the backup qb needs to be considered as well...its possible for us to find a niche role for him..i know im reaching a bit...lol. I still love the flyin hawaain though. I guess me wanting to see him do good might be messing w my rational thinking but, i would still bring him back for 6 mil a year as long as our other needs are addressed
Some did suggest letting Ryan walk and draft a new CB.My problem with this is that logan is a great nickel corner. What we need is a great outside corner who will be able to keep up with tyreek, Sammy and hardman(and hollywood brown too)..i fear that malcolm will not be able to hold a candle....he was already slow for a corner, how bout a year after a injury and turning 30

It’s a risk, he may succeed elsewhere, but the cost is too high not to take it and rosters can only be so big. As we saw this year, we really need every roster spot for someone with a real role.
Outside the wasted “KO specialist” we had to keep cutting and signing guys down the stretch.
Wait you wanna cut butler and keep mary. Ew.So what do we do about backup qb then? I say Marcus is just as good an option as any right now. What are we gonna draft another 5th rd qb and hope for the best? Lol

I’d rather resign Ryan and improve pass rush. Pass rush can help a secondary anyway.
If we don’t keep ryan, I’d still be ok keeping Brock with butler and Jackson. #4 would be maybe Tye Smith or Hooker still but again, I think an improved pass rush helps the secondary in general.
