Sometimes athletes are limited in how much they can accomplish due to injuries. Probably the most famous example of this is Bo Jackson — who was an absolute freak and put up some terrific numbers before seeing his career cut short. Another was Gale Sayers.

It happens. But it’s not comparable to somebody who just doesn’t live up to their hype.

no doubt they knew, just like they knew when he wouldnt play all of 2017 but they pretended he would just to sell tickets... there is a precedent here

Yeah, I'm thinking Luck didn't just show up one day and tell them he was retiring. He had to have mentioned that he was thinking about it a while ago.
 
Not the way i wanted power to shift in our division but I'll take it. Im not gonna take us seriously unless we win both games tho
 
Glad he wasn't forced to retire due to a devastating injury.

The most recent rumor I've heard is that the organization offered to sit Luck for a year or 2 to heal up and just feel better overall. Luck declined and chose full retirement instead... makes this feel more finite.
 
Someone on another site put forth a conspiracy theory that he retired from the NFL to be headliner for the new XFL, where his dad is the League commissioner.

LOL, I guess it's a theory, but I can't for the life of me imagine why he would walk away from 50 million over the next 2 seasons plus the sponsorship deals.
 
Rumor mill is in full effect lol

I've heard rumors that Luck requested Ballard/Irsay to put him on IR and let him go to Hawaii for 3 months with his wife. They refused.

Also heard that this is more of a mental health issue than the ankle issue
 
i heard andrew luck was so afraid of breaking his winning streak vs the titans this year that he just decided to quit
 
Luck was responsible for some of the hits he took, but the Colts gave up the most total hits to the QB (sacks + non-sack hits) for 3 straight seasons. In 2018 when the OL wasn't full of scrubs and busts for once he suddenly wasn't sack-prone. It's almost like the 2 were connected.
