Luck played with abandon more often than not... his style of play was destined for constant injury.

Steve Young was the same... then wised up and changed his game.

Colts aren't without blame, but...

His career would've been just as short and, probably, no Super Bowls if he hadn't changed his style.

He'd have severe concussions and probably wouldn't be able to walk right.

Luck was responsible for some of the hits he took, but the Colts gave up the most total hits to the QB (sacks + non-sack hits) for 3 straight seasons. In 2018 when the OL wasn't full of scrubs and busts for once he suddenly wasn't sack-prone. It's almost like the 2 were connected.
It’s also a good thing the OLine got a couple games off against the titans. I could only imagine how many years earlier he would have retired if the titans could ever mount a pass rush to hit him.

Good change of style moving from TB to SF. Not sure what style was changed outside of “OL block”.

Incorrect.

Steve Young's QB style was to move the ball, no matter what. One of his most infamous plays in San Fran was when he scrambled (for a TD, I believe) through a lot of defenders. He was erratic and a true backup.

It wasn't long after that he had come to the conclusion to focus on his pocket game.

Sure the blocking changed... but that's how he played. Injuries be damned.

He become more of a pocket passer in the Bill Walsh West Coast O
Jerry rice, john Taylor, Brent ones and Rickey waters make a lifetime of difference (literally in this case) over............. was James wilder still there? I suppose Bruce hill? Mark carrier played well with vinny T but I don’t think Young had him.

Against Minnesota. That replay has some of the worst tackling ever and you g tripping over himself near the goal line.
He had a much better team around him. Moving to SF alone was a career saver.

I went to Super bowl 29 in Miami when they played the Charger. Growing up the Houston Oilers were my AFC team and the 49ers were my NFC team

I gotta boo the 2 team approach, but knowing Moon and the Oilers were the best is recognized.

He is quoted stating he changed his game from reckless abandon to more pocket passing.

It was an old NFL Network show that looked back on player's careers, and this one was about him. Even with all those weapons, he still played like he did in Tampa. Then after discussing with others, he realized he couldn't continue down that road, completely.

Steve Young was running for his life in TB
Yep. A change in scenery saved his career. Considering his rushing totals by careers end are almost the top for QBs, I’d say he did t change much at all over his career, the team around him did (and not just a little, league bottom to league best).
