Tag Tannehill and then pay him at this time next next year if he's still playing this well. No reason to rush into this.
problem is if we use the tag on him then we are gonna have to pay Henry some insane amount instead of using the tag. we really need to save the tag for henry

Would you believe me if i told you there was a vast amount (maybe even majority) of knowledgeable Dolphin fans that understood Tannehill REALLY was this good?

He’s not “all of a sudden” good. he was in purgatory playing for the worst OLs, the WORST front iffice, the worst OCs, the worst head coaches and some seasons the WORST “star” WR (im talking you, Mike Wallace)

He was a warrior and class act through it all.

Nope, THill is simply an uber talented, uber ACCURATE qb. If any here think he’s sticking around for a short term “bridge”, you dont get it. One team is going to make RT a rich man with at least a 5yr guarantee. Maybe TN, maybe not.
These idiots act like he’s a rookie. Not all titans fans as dumb as ten titans

Tag will overpay Henry, tag underpays the QB.

Id tag Tanny honestly and save about $5M to use towards Henry

Sign the man and forget drafting one.
Just FA shop for a backup.

Let’s gets a deal and draft a serious pass rusher. We need another Freak out there.

did not trade for him and give him a shot just to watch him walk when successful

Titans will resign T17

Ehhh I don't really believe in paying RBs so this wouldn't bother me that much. If Henry wants insane money, he can go elsewhere. Not hard to find good RBs in the draft. Almost always a bad idea to give a huge contract to that position.

our offense revolves around the run and we have no rb2.... if we let him walk we are resting A LOT on jrobs ability to find a stud rb to replace him. we gotta lock him up

Cardinals thought that same thing about David Johnson and now deeply regret that contract. Zeke and Gurley deals also looking suspect - and Henry is not on their level in terms of overall skill set.

RBs are not hard to replace. Any GM worth employing can find them. Could easily sign a decent and cheap one in FA and draft a potential stud in rounds 3-4.

agreed... keep drafting QBs in round 6 until we get a goat
Or as I pointed out before, start going the KC route and never draft a QB.

Until Mahomes, they haven’t draft a started QB since at least Bill Kenney in the early 80’s. They pretty much just signed (or traded) for whatever QB SF was done using.

odd factoid...

KC has more Ws with QB drafted by the 49ers than with QBs they drafted

Bono & Montana account for most of them but there was a weird GM/FO connection between SF & KC for like 30 years that unofficially moved talent from SF into KC

Deberg, Grbac, Alex Smith. The list probably goes longer.

We run more play action than almost any other team in the league, we can't afford to have someone that isn't a stud. Would be an extremely risky move to let the #2 rb walk with nothing waiting

You forgot Elvis Grbac

Another niners QB who won with the Chiefs

Play action works regardless of whether you have a good running game or even if you bother running the ball the rest of the time. This has been pretty thoroughly established by analytics-focused sites like PFF. Do some searching if you want to read more. It's a pretty unintuitive and cool thing about football. It turns out that defenses will react to the fake no matter what.

Yep because no matter what, defense has to hesitate a second.
