With every game, Tanny's value increases. If he continues like this, he'll want to hit free agency because he will get some crazy high offers. It's his last big payday so expect him to not accept anything less than a three-year deal.

Friggin' Keenum got two-years , $36 million, in 2018. Foles signed a four-year deal worth $88M ($50 guaranteed). On a three-year deal, Tanny will cost $60M+, IMO, wherever he goes, maybe more, with $35M+ guaranteed.

If the Titans pay him, I don't see them drafting a QB unless a great value slides to them. The Titans will be in the window to win now and the Titans will want to use early-round picks to fill some needs.

And honestly, why wouldn't we? I don't think this is a "flash in the pan" performance. I think Miami held him back. Even if he slides a bit- he's still serviceable and we only spent a 4th round pick in draft capital. I'd be Ok with what you mentioned.

Showing your lack of knowledge. Different era, can't be judged by today's QB friendly NFL.
By all means sell me on McMahon. He didn’t compare with his era (the 80’s) well either.

He got injured almost every year, was hardly the focal point on offense at all.
Walter Payton and that D carried him.

You’re either showing you’re ignorance or you’re memory is slipping.

McMahon was never top 15 anything.

I'd rather pay Tammy the big bucks and forget about drafting and developing a QB. Historically this organization sucks and cannot develop QBs so might as well pay the guy that is a proven talent. Tammy can play at a high level for 4 years or more.

Make some trades or draft and build the O line and defense more.

It is you sir that is quite literally ignorant of the subject.

On McMahon not being any good?

He wasn’t. In an era where 3K was the norm and 20 TD, he was an 2k sometimes and 10-15 TD.

His absolute best year was the SB year.
2392, (20th), 15 TD (tied for 16th), and 11 INT. He was 7th in rating but also only played 13 games (started 11).

Not once did he finish a 16 (or 15 or even 14) game season, he had 1 13 game season over a 15 year career.

The one thing he was good at, which I already said, was his deep ball. Coincidently willie Gault was known as a high avg. receiver and with Payton in the backfield, he become MM bad if he can’t throw long.

I don’t know what you could possibly see in him to think he was better than and avg (at best) QB in the 80’s. He really wasn’t even avg.

JRob deserves his props for picking up Tanny for a 4th. Has proven to be a

STRONG MOVE.

I'm pretty sure TN makes a decent offer and also pretty sure Tannehill will take it. The way things are going he'd be a fool to leave. He's got weapons, a decent line, and one hell of a defense to keep them in the game. Also, don't forget the AFC South is usually wide-open every year. If he stays and plays a full season the sky's the limit.

I'm guessing they'll draft his successor somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd, but probably get some help on the o-line in the 1st. That might be a selling point when negotiating his long-term deal.

I hope not. I’m loving what Tanny is able to do here but let’s not forget who he is. He will end up costing us a game from poor decision making. I hope we can sign him to a 2-3 year deal with a way out after one. Then draft a qb in the first. Let him sit and learn. If all goes well, we end up having the Chiefs/Smith/Mahomes dilemma.

Tannehill's issue over his career hasn't really been decision making. The issue is more that he's been super vanilla. Despite being top 10 in the league in pass attempts almost every season, his yards per attempt were always bottom half of the league. Dan Le Batard actually has a funny sound bite about this and Tannehill's "15 play drives that take 10 minutes off the clock and end up in a 45 yard punt."

Now may be that's more a problem with Miami's play calling, but Tannehill has mostly just been a game manager up until this year. This year however, he's leading the league in YPA.

To give you a good idea on how good Tanne has been, here are his current rate stats extrapolated over a full 16 game season:

5000+ yards
38 TDs
14 Ints

Now he's super unlikely to maintain this pace. But don't sell him short on just how good he has been since taking over for Mariota.

If we sign tanne it will be for at least 4 years and we won't be drafting his replacement yet. People in here still thinking we will get this guy cheap and short term and it's just not gonna happen

For the bolded part to be trued he'd need to be averaging over 300 yards per game. Pretty sure he isn't doing that.

Which is exactly what the OP said. But that is the pace he is on, which is impressive and the point of the post.
