So, serious question to all the Trannyites....what do you have to see from him going forward the rest of the year to KEEP him as your starter going forward? He played really well, 23-29 (79.3 percent) 312 yards 2 TD passes for the positive. 2 sacks (if they were MM fault they are Tranny's fault), one INT, One fumble, and the worst Negative play, ONE failed QB sneak that would have sealed the game. So, I ask again in terms of stats, wins, whatever, what do YOU have to see to say "He's our QB going into next season and NOT draft a QB in the first round?

I answer my own question before anyone else does....PLAYOFF's or Nope. Basically win the division and the JOB is yours....IMO.

Keep him draft a qb makes most sense to me. Hire a stellar qb coach also going into next year.

It's just one game, I'll wait until the season is over to judge Tammy. I am happy Tammy got the offense going a bit.

He made good decisions last night, did very well despite not getting much time in the pocket. When he threw it he did so with conviction and without hesitation which is a breath of fresh air to watch at the Titans QB Position.

If he can clinch the division I'd say he's our guy.

I liked what I saw, Tannehill played well. That said, it was against a team that was on about the Titans own skill level, and they didn't exactly blow them out. It's almost like the QB position isn't the Titans only problem.

Regardless, it is too soon to be making that decision imo. Let's see how it goes for a few more games and we'll have a better idea of how well he fits. I do like seeing a QB stretch the field, and Tannehill certainly looks like he is capable of doing just that so far.

Tannehill appears serviceable as QB with one game in. He threw with anticipation and strength. Our WR's caught balls and were able to use their skills to win some contested catches like they should.

Let's see how he does over a few more games to see if I think he'd be good enough to put the team on his shoulders against stouter defenses. That's what a franchise QB is supposed to be able to do.

As far as extending him, I'd offer a 4 year deal right now. We've already invested a 4th round pick in him. I'd attempt to move Mariota right now- I'd take a 4th round pick (attempt better, accept conditional improved pick) for him.

BTW- I think we've got a snowball's chance in hell of winning the division. We have to win out against the division and the conference and keep up with the Texans and Colts. Barring an injury to Brissett or Watson- I don't see that happening.

I don’t think playoffs will be an option this season but I’m all for THill trying.
I absolutely think titans need to draft a QB next year. I’m also one of the dying breed that likes the idea of a rookie QB riding the pine season 1, maybe longer.

With that, we need a QB to play still until either injury or just really poor play causes the rookie to come in. Got no issue with THill being that guy. I think he’s still going to be cheap enough that he can stick around for a couple years as the starter prepping the rookie to take over, then as backup.

Whatever the case, zero room on the roster for MM.

Not to be a downer, but I'm pretty sure Tannehill and his agent set all this up so he could come in after our QB failed and then put in a good statistical season so he could land a gaudy contract somewhere. If he puts a good season together, I don't think he's going to go for a one year extension and the like. Robinson tried to get him for two years back when they signed him and he wouldn't go for it. Lets just enjoy it while we can and take note of what our offense can be with semi-competent QB play. I'm not sure it's wise to give Tannehill a big contract (assuming he has a great season), no matter how great a season he has.

I think he can at least be a good stop-gap for us. Use this next offseason to rebuild the offensive line and see what he looks like next year with better protection. If he doesn't get it done, tank it for Lawrence.

we are gonna be losing a lot of vets this year in FA most likely. if he walks we potentially get a 3rd in comp picks. might not be worth trading.

Even if we want to resign him and can't agree on a deal, we can still put the franchise tag on him. That's a big number contract wise, but it's only one year.

Sign him to a 3 year deal, and draft a guy to groom (Eason, possibly Love in the 2nd)

I don't think Tannehill would be the kind of guy to milk a franchise after signing an extension. He's made plenty of money, yet he took a paycut and grinded out as a backup in order to get an opportunity.

Also, I'm not sure what we think a guy with potential will do that Tannehill can't. Does Fromm really have a higher ceiling? The positive marks he gets are for his accuracy. Tannehill is completing 80% of his passes to guys that he has no chemistry with. I'm honestly hoping this works out. You can win with a QB who consistently puts the ball in the playmakers hands, and he appears to be good at doing that. Also, several of those throws were ones that you draft a QB early to make.

some rumors are floating about a possible trade to KC. (I assume that it is largely based on how long Mahomes might be out).

Exactly what I came to say. If Tannehill continues to play at a high level for the rest of the year, then to think he is going to be content to resign here as a one year bridge to a TBD rookie is pretty delusional imo. You have to strike while the iron is hot in this league. He is going to want pretty big money and a commitment from this organization. Otherwise he'll walk. Hell, he could walk regardless. This is in all likelihood his last chance at big money. He's gonna follow the money.

Again, all of this is assuming he actually plays well for the rest of the season. Which is far from guaranteed.
