I agree with the 1st part, but he's the backup for a reason. With luck that’s probably true, but we have mariota

What is that reason, exactly? There is no argument that you can make against him which doesn't also apply to MariotaI agree with the 1st part, but he's the backup for a reason.
Titans drafted Mariota #2 overall, he’s the starter. THill was just traded for with minimal cost, he’s the backup. What is that reason, exactly? There is no argument that you can make against him which doesn't also apply to Mariota
It's possible that there is some friction between him and the team after bringing in an independent doctor who suggested that he sit out the final game. And he's not Robinson nor Vrabel's guy. I think that he's going to have to win the starting job.Titans drafted Mariota #2 overall, he’s the starter. THill was just traded for with minimal cost, he’s the backup.

See what Hurray Titans said. What is that reason, exactly? There is no argument that you can make against him which doesn't also apply to Mariota
Mariota hasn't been able to achieve the franchise record of a measly 3,500 yards in a single season. Tannehill has exceeded 4,000 yards on 2 separate occasions, and right under that during 1 more. What makes him better?See what Hurray Titans said.
That, and Mariota is a better QB hands down. Tannehill is a serviceable BU and an improvement over what we had, I'm happy we signed him, but he's not in competition for the starting role.
3 winning seasons out of 4, for starters.Mariota hasn't been able to achieve the franchise record of a measly 3,500 yards in a single season. Tannehill has exceeded 4,000 yards on 2 separate occasions, and right under that during 1 more. What makes him better?
I'm asking about him. Not his team. He threw a total of 24 TDs to 23 INTs and averaged 2,880 yards during two of those . That's hardly even backup level production. They achieved winning records in spite of him.3 winning seasons out of 4, for starters.
Lol, you twist it how you want. Titans wouldn't have won a single season with Tannehill at QB, much less 3.I'm asking about him. Not his team. You realize that Miami won 10 games with him at QB before, right? And that place is an absolute dumpster fire. His teams have had a total of 1 top 10 rushing offense in his career, and his defenses have been in the bottom half of the league during the past 5 years. Mariota's career as a starter would long be over if he were put in the same situation.Lol, you twist it how you want. Titans wouldn't have won a single season with Tannehill at QB, much less 3.[/B]
Your dislike of Mariota is noted, but it's starting to wear thin. He's either going to succeed or fail this year, so you might as well accept it.
How many successive winning seasons did they have in Miami with Tannehill? How many HCs and OCs did Miami have during his tenure? You realize that Miami won 10 games with him at QB before, right? Tannehill had a much better chance for success than Mariota did, and yet Mariota produced the better record.
I'm not yet sold on Mariota, but between him and Tannehill there's no doubt about which one is better.
It's getting old.The difference is that Tannehill showed enough ability to not get his coach fired immediately. You are really reaching if you think Joe Philbin gives a QBa good opportunity for success, who was his HC over 70% of his career. He was basically doomed to be a positional coach for the rest of his career after the job he did. While Ken Whisenhunt is still an OC. And LaFluer is a HC.
I hope that the job isn't just handed to him. Tannehill is a hell of a lot more capable than you think , and if mariota plays like he has the past two years, he will lose a fair competition. But I'm confident that the QB play will be better, no matter the QB, so I'm looking forward to this seasonIt's getting old.
There's not currently nor is there going to be a competition between Tannehill and Mariota for the starting position. With good reason.
Feel free to disagree, it's certainly your prerogative.
Fair enough. I'm hoping that the team will be improved over what we've seen the past few seasons. By no means do I think Mariota's earned a franchise contract yet, but I am hoping that this season he might.I hope that the job isn't just handed to him. While MM is injury prone, his seem less severe like losing an entire season. Is THill actually healthy enough to take MM spot anyway? It’s been 3 seasons since THill has put up any of those stats.Mariota hasn't been able to achieve the franchise record of a measly 3,500 yards in a single season.
