This is my worry about Marcus. Philadelphia didn't box him in or cover his receivers. Nobody doubts him in these situations. It's when anticipation and ball placement is crucial to the catch that he is extremely inconsistent.Today, I stumbled on a site called nextgenstats.nfl.com and saw some interesting stuff.
You can click on a game and see the average separation in yards of each receiver on any pass they were targeted and I was surprised at the numbers.
In the Bills game, Taylor had 3.37 yards of separation, Smith had 3.29 yards and Davis had 3.13 yards.
Note the league average is 2.79 yards.
Go back to Philly and Sharpe had 5.84, Taylor 3.69, Jennings 3.58 and Davis 3.34.
Even against the stout Jags secondary, Taylor is at 3.86. Only Davis was lower than the league average in that game.
Draw your own conclusions but Marcus is seeing bigger windows than most QBs in the league. He’s either not getting the ball out fast enough, is accurate enough or is getting more than his share of drops. I suspect it’s a combination of the three.
The bright side is that it appears the Titans receivers are getting open and Marcus seems to be making the right reads. If Marcus can improve, and get more help from the receivers, the passing yards should come.
Thats so bad lolThe Titans have 8 plays in the passing game over 20 yards... Corey Davis is responsible for 6 of them.TE Luke Stocker and safety Dane Cruikshank have the others.
wow. 20 yards is not a huge play. The Titans have 8 plays in the passing game over 20 yards... Corey Davis is responsible for 6 of them.TE Luke Stocker and safety Dane Cruikshank have the others.
