I see what your saying and not trying to argue. Just disagree about a 5th yr, potential Franchise QB needing reps in PS1...unless he's still a bit of "tingles". Plus, I'm of the mind 5th yr QB has used up their excuses.
so you think he's been struggling, but dont want to give him reps? even if only 1 drive?

What I would say is we have basically the same QB, but Tannehill is more confident and pushes the ball downfield. With no improvement from Mariota, we'll be right where we were last year either way. But at least Tannehill will look better at being average. The only hope is that Mariota really was confined by the offense all these years, but he can look so timid and lost at times, it may be more than that.

Exactly my issue. Tons of talent, good kid, just REALLY inconsistent and makes some questionable throws and decisions. His pocket presence 5 years in worries me a ton.

Look I know the dude is the starter and I know this is a prove it year. I just think a 5th yr "franchise QB" shouldn't be struggling. I think it's telling that a 5th yr Franchise QB "needs reps"

I really dont like doing this but there are several QB's in history who didnt do much til year-5

just saying, hes not necessarily a finished product just cause others around the league have had more success early.

All I know is, we started the game yesterday with Mary doing Mary things. Tannehill steps in, and we punch the ball in the endzone twice and create rhythm. 5 years in shouldn’t be this sketchy...He better turn this bs around and fast.

Oh I agree. He shouldn't need them but you gotta give him the reps if he is struggling.

He's regressed if anything - not improved; that I would say is concerning for a 5th yr QB that the team is deciding whether or not to extend as the starter. T
hat about sums up my "big" worries. Swore I wasn't going to get pulled into the Mary debates (which I kind of think you feel the same about; it's a dead horse). So I'll shut up now

Yea its been discussed to death

Im ready to let the year play out and see where we are at the end. Unless he gets hurt hes our guy.

actually... if tannehill had also had only 1 drive (like mariota) he would have went 3 and out

I was really surprised at the number of pass plays Smith dialed up. We looked like a 21st century offense. I’m sure that was just smoke and mirrors, though.
I'm trying to not let myself get excited, but I really hope Smith is that guy who's been around, survived multiple HC's because he's good at his job, and finally gets his shot and goes with it. Preseason or not, it was fun to watch. I'll believe it when I see it in the regular season though. That said, he of all people should know what Mariota needs to be successful.

As for the players, I was happy with pretty much everyone but Taylor. I've been higher on him than most, and have been holding onto him for 2 seasons in dynasty, but damn are my patience wearing thin. Why he refuses to try to catch the ball with his hands is beyond me. He needs to spend a week, 8 hrs a day just on the jugs machine.

Ahhhh okay...So now it’s simply Mariota doesn’t get enough time...Okay, got it. When is the last time Mariota (with plenty of time) drove downfield like that twice? I’ll wait.......It doesn’t happen often. It’s preseason, I get it, but stop the madness.

Come on JR lol you stop the madness man.

Tanne was able to create rhythm because he played more than 1 series.

Can’t really compare

Oh but I can compare. I was there dude. Mary still unsure in the pocket. The feeling was completely different. How in the hell do either of you “know” that Mary would have thrown 2 TD’s and moved the ball down the field given more time? Stop being homers. Tannehill looked better, and rarely do we see Mariota create drives as such. It’s not being a hater. It’s fact.

Stop the madness! It’s preseason.

I’m not saying Mariota would have thrown 2 tds, but you can’t say he would not have given more than 1 series. Tannehill’s first drive was a 3 and out

And I watched the game on TV, I had a better view than you.

Mariota was fine, moved the ball down the field using the one guy he trusted.

Taylor dropped like 3 passes that hit him in the hands.

I'd say "I know you aren't this dense" but I think you actually might be
You are the guy acting like 4-8 for 24 yards was a good game and you call me dense. What you are saying isn't dense, it is downright stupid, but that is expected from you at this point.

Reminds me of that time Mariota threw for 124 yards and idiots were actually on this site making threads and saying crap like SEE HE IS THE BEST EVER!

1 drive and we would have scored with a kick without cd/Brown/Lewan/saffold/conk/Delanie/henry.... IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT NOT GOOD??? sorry if I don't overreact and claim that to be terrible.

You are the one acting strange over 1 drive of a preseason wk 1 game lol
Oh thats right, they all came into the game to play when Tannehill tookover..
Jeez can you be any dumber?

Hahaha 4-8 for 24 yards and you say "IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT NOT GOOD???"
It just gets dumber and dumber... say something like...

"Yes, it is true that I love Mariota more than life itself and I would throw my kids over a bridge just to get a chance to give Mariota one quick kiss on the lips, but he didn't play very well last night"

that would atleast show you aren't a complete idiot.
