As much as I would like to argue with you, I cannot. Mariota appears to be broken, and not with problems that can be resolved.

Tannehill is not the answer; Tannehill is pretty much the same guy.

The FO is in the hotseat. The rest of the team is built, but it needs a QB. The Titans are in no position to draft one, so let's see where this road leads.
Never know until we put Tannehill in. He's tied the NFL record for consecutive completions, taken his team on a 7-1 streak to make the playoffs, and he threw 8 TDs in a 3 game span last year against 3 top defenses, so he's got the ability to get hot . He's got the frustrating tendency to take sacks, but he'll make enough throws to lower our blood pressure some.

Tannehill isn’t the answer, but he takes shots downfield and can see open receivers. That alone would make me put him in.

Who was the last QB to come out that anyone would describe as being immobile?

Statues at QB are the rarity, those days are long gone, and they almost have to be with how quick the pass rush is.

Agree, not many left for sure. Just looking at the teams now and the only ones that really stand out are Brady, Rivers, and Brees. I’m sure their age plays a factor but for the most part they were always pocket qbs. Watching any one of these guys scramble is a rarity and it doesn’t even look right when they do tuck it. They all compensate by getting the ball out quick and have excellent pocket awareness especially Brady.

Every time I think of Brady scrambling I think of this hit he took.

Agree. The video below is not quite the same thing as not mobile, but certainly the guys that no one expects to run. All recent history and Consists of brady, manningx2, palmer, Big Ben, and maybe a couple more. Plus most were well past 30, maybe 35 in these plays.

Interesting. You notice in those highlights how fast he gets rid of the ball? As soon as he finishes his drop back he is throwing it. Also, look how fast his pocket is collapsing.. in many of those throws, if he held that ball another 1/2 a second, he would be getting smacked. That is where Mariota has a major issue. That and stepping in the wrong direction almost every time.

Another thing... In many of those plays, if he HAD gotten sack, it would not have been "his fault". But, he didn't get sacked, he made a play instead. Good qbs make those kind of plays. Mariota does not. He gets sacked, even though "it isn't his fault".
Either i skiped the post comparing mariota 2 Mahomes or you just did it yourself out of the blue. Why? He is already on his last leg why compair him to one of if not the best qb in the league so far this season.

Im not trying to defend mariota here but wtf lol.....

Winston isn't mobile. Flacco isn't mobile. Ryan, foles, keenum, cousins. Haskins isn't particularly mobile, nor is Jones. Neither are darnold or Rosen. Neither is Goff.

You need to be mobile enough to move in the pocket. You don't need to be a threat to take off. Most qbs in the league aren't.

This. I think we're comparing 2 different things. Mobility is nice to have, but pocket awareness is key. Brady, Manning, Rivers...... sure these guys are slow as hell, but they are light years ahead of anyone else in terms of pocket awareness, which is why they make big throws and dont create turnovers. Thing is, highly mobile QBs can hide their lack of awareness with the ability to run, as is the case with Mariota. When we decided to make him a "pocket passer", all we did was show off his lack of pocket awareness.

I've been talking about no more athletic/running threat QBs.

Mobile in the pocket that can scramble occasionally.

Brady, Manning, Brees, and Rivers are all excellent at sliding in the pocket...does that make them mobile...not really

Uh, did you not read the very first post by the OP in this thread... you know the name of this thread is... Time for a new direction... ?

This whole thread is about changing the type of qb we go after.. so why is comparing what we have to what we should have such a leap for you?

That woulda ended mariotas life

Marcus has been figured out plain and simple. Keep him in the pocket by keeping the edge wide and bring 1 or 2up the middle. Give him too much too look at around the pocket and he'll not check for open recievers other than his initial read.

Time to move on am afraid, was a big fan still going into this year but he's shown nothing different from last year. Well he has, less picks which is negated because his playing is stale and not playoff calibre.

My point is that JRob said that he left Mularkey go because this is a playoff team and we needed to get more out of them. Vrabel hasn’t done that and he technically was not an upgrade.
Mr. Mularkey we all appreciate you making the players line their helmets up uniformly but that W in KC was followed up with a L and a refusal to fire the inept OC... you fired yourself buddy

I really do not know why everyone is so hard on JRob. Was vastly overrated at his start for sure, but he guy has a hit rate that probably just above average in the draft. Granted, the whiffs have been higher round, but he has picked up some solid free agents also. I really do not think you can evaluate him until he gets his pick at QB.
Robinson got a ton of credit for flipping obvious roster holes.

Idc if you say what you want. But saying you want the guy who is on pace for 50tds and 6k yards is dream land.

Is it possible sure. But so is kate beckensale nocking on my door saying she needs some dick now. Neither is likely to happen though.

Asking for a real nfl qb is still a tall order but a plausible one. Just set your sights a little lower or you are allways gona br disappointed.

I've posted this before, but JRob has hit on basically all of his 1st rounders. Jackson isn't doing very well so far this year, but up til this year he's been a quality starter. Same for Davis, who has been non-existent this year after having a very solid sophmore season. But our offense as whole has been pretty abysmal minus the 2nd half of the Browns game.

How has he hit on all of his first rounders when you just said those first rounders have been struggling? Corey Davis blocks more often than makes plays. Jackson gets burnt and fumbles PRs way too much. Evans looks to be solid, but he's not a playmaker right now. Those first round picks HAVE to be impact players. Especially when you constantly miss in the later rounds as well.

There is a LOT more to the story than that.
He did some good things here for the team and organization (and the lining of helmets was not here).

I know ....

Jan W in KC was peak Mularkey.

And I agree he did good overall. Especially after the Wizinator/Munchak crapfest

For one, it had been 3 games this year that they have been struggling. Both Jackson and Davis were both good just last season, so may be judging them on 3 games to start this season isn't such a great idea? And lo and behold, both Davis and Jackson were terrific yesterday. Funny how that works. But yes, so far Adoree looks like the worst 1st round pick of JRob's tenure. And yet he still had been a quality player up til this season, even if he wasn't a star.

Evans was also terrific yesterday.

Not to mention, JRob has plenty of hits in the the later rounds as well. Byard, Sims, Brown, Sharpe all were drafted in the 3rd round or later. From this past draft, Hooker is getting a lot of playing time and looks like he is developing pretty well already. Nate Davis only has this week's performance to judge on, but he played pretty damn well, imo.
