Sheesh, I cant imagine paying him over 22M. You really think teams are going to make him a top 10 paid QB with this sample size? Maybe they will, and if that's the case I agree we tag him. I wouldnt sign him long term for more than 22M.

Most definitely. He's going to get closer to 30mil than he is 22mil. I saw a report that Jameis would be seeking 30mil annually. Obviously doesn't mean he'll get it after his time in TB, but I'd imagine he'll get close. That's the going rate for a starting QB. Like you said, once it gets that high, it looks a lot easier to tag him for a year.

There are only 5 QBs getting 30M plus, but I get the trend is that whoever signs next sets the market, so that number will increase every year.

Reports are Mahommes is looking at a 40mil a year contract. That changes everything if Mahommes signs before RT. If I am RTs agent I tell him we arent signing anything until we see the Mahommes contract.

Yep. Escalation is the way contract go, especially at QB. There will be better QBs than RT that make less—it is just a timing issue. I can see tagging him to see if he can come close to what he did this year. There is wisdom in that.

We have a Titan QB and RB in the Pro Bowl... that hasn't ever happened has it?..get the contracts done and focus on the draft

The real question is how long will Tannys contract be? I bet he's going to want something long term like a 5 year deal.

I think the Titans are going to have no problems attracting FAs this off season. They are a fun team to watch and as the playoffs went out on more and more players around the league started rooting for them. Jrob and Vrabel have created an environment that many players look for and want to be a part of. Obviously the money is another selling point but the run that they went out I think caught everyone's attention around the league. There isnt a doubt in my mind that the guys down at the pro bowl arent trying to recruit some players. These guys know exactly what they are doing, its the first phase of free agency.:highfive:

Well it’s pretty simple -

Tanny and Henry BOTH have to be resigned

if only one or neither the window closes.

a rookie QB and or a rookie RB and all the progress from this year goes backwards

and a different veteran replacement isn’t the answer either ; it’s not broke so don’t try and find a cheaper option

Starting to hear a lot of speculation on nfl network by those “in the know” , saying titans are looking at the franchise tag for tanny....that they want to see more “body of work” from him before a long term commitment

The NFL has proven time and time again that what worked one year is far from guaranteed to work again.

Ask the Rams how giving Todd Gurley and Jared Goff huge money is going.

Being committed to winning means carefully considering your options and making the best possible decision for the future, not rushing to sign your players just because you finally had a hint of success.

this isn’t wrong. Rams have to be regretting a lot of their decisions. Not saying Henry will suddenly break down like Gurley but with RBs who take a beating you never know.

Also no guarantee Tannehill finds his lighting in the bottle again and picks up right where he left off after this long offseason.

But seeing how close this squad got and gelled - it seems very much worth the risk to sign them both and find out...

I think the tag might be smart the more I think about it. I will get some all bent by saying Tammy might have lucked out and caught the perfect storm. It's kind of like a new young QB coming in and having success because there is not a lot of film to study. In the situation here:

1. Art is a new OC so defenses don't know his style yet.
2. Derek caught fire and was unstoppable. The run we went on was in large part to DH averaging over 120 yards rushing and accounting for 2 TDs per game.

With that said, I'm all about extending Tammy and keeping him here. I don't want going through rookie growing pains and hoping the guy pans out...tiring.

The guy has had 2 4k+ seasons on the crap Dolphins. When was the last time we had a 4k passer? I dont buy the flash in the pan, or fluke season, or breakout season theories. The guy has shown (somewhat consistently) he can get things done in the right situations. We seemed to have been able to provide more right situations this past season than Miami. That doesnt suprise me.

Saving cap space for the perfect players is not going to benefit us. Roll the dice and see if it works. I would rather go down trying than saving money and being medicore because they dont want to spend.

We're not really in the position to let the most efficient QB in the league walk away. Even if it's a risk, it is one worth taking and could give us some leverage during negotiations.

To the OP’s post they had the head of the Nashville Sports Council on TV talking about that very thing, even referencing the stadium in Miami and he said it was time for renovation and that they would like to host a SB by 2030.

Would be very cool.

I agree with your point overall but to answer this question:
As the Titans, never. Matty Ice still holds the single season yardage mark with 3571.
We can get tricky and say “we had a 4K passer” in the sense that Collins did throw for 4K prior to his Tennessee run, as did THill.

Otherwise, go back to Moon.

I support this...and he will accept it. Cousins showed it can work out very well.
