Mariota will determine our 2020 draft most likely. Though honestly, if he craps the bed, I'd go full rebuild and suck for Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 draft who is gonna set the NFL on absolute fire. Aaron Rodgers/Andrew Luck type of talent.

Sure he is

We thought the same about Mary after he had 50+ TDs in 2014

Never tank

I never thought that about Mary (though I liked him considerably more than Winston and his baggage). Lawrence makes every throw on the field and has amazing anticipation. And he also is mobile when he needs to be.

No idea yet on the 2020 prospects but the TE position keeps my interest lately.

I was hoping for OJ Howard in 2017 and they took Adoree one pick ahead instead - which I would say was the right move especially because of the position it fills.

To a lesser-extent : Hayden Hurst in 2018.

This year I was hoping for Noah Fant - who goes one pick after ours - but once again I think the Titans got it right with Jeffery - time will tell.

Delanie has 2 solid years left in him most likely and we can’t say for sure if we have his “clone or replacement” in Jonnu Smith. He’s shown flashes but this offense has been so vanilla especially with its receiving targets it’s hard to judge him still ...

If we do pick late in the 2020 draft - I’ll stick to the “draft a TE early campaign.”

Yeah, I was on the OJ Howard train because we were playing so many multiple TE sets to make it worth it. So it'll be interesting to see with so many good wr talent now...if we do what the Rams do and make 11 personel our base formation. If yes, we'll see how Delanie and Johnnu look this season and go from there.

Obviously if we need a new QB that will trump everything, but if not, we'll have an overly experienced Walker, Wake, Casey's getting up there, Woodyard, Jones and Conklin are on one year left as is Ryan and a few others so...if not replacing Mariota, we may need to replace some people with our 2020 draft. We have already stocked up some positions too. All things being equal, another pass rusher, TE, and OC to eventually replace Wake, Walker, and Jones.

Marvin Wilson is probably a top-45 player at DT if he comes out as a junior.

Stanford Samuels III might have a chance to be a second round pick as a CB. He played out of position at FS last year and he's moving back to CB. He has ideal height/weigh/speed, but he needs to put it all together.

Cam Akers has a chance if the offensive line can be average, but he needs to show he's a RB and not a converted option QB. It seemed like he was figuring things out about midway through his freshman season. Then things were just so bad up front in 2018 that he reverted back to old habits of trying to break everything outside. He'll be a true junior next year and given the position he's probably gone one way or another.

Tamorrion Terry is probably the best deep threat in the country. 35 receptions for 744 yards and 8 TDs on an absolute trash offense last year. He was the only bright spot. He needs to become a complete receiver though and not just Devery Henderson. He'll be a rs-sophomore, so I'm not sure he leaves early.

Thanks! Nice breakdown!

Too early and a lot of variables come into play....Will Henry re-sign? Will Mary perform? Is Walker back to full strength? What about Logan Ryan? Time will tell, but it’s way too early imo.

Of course, but we have time to shoot the breeze...

Guard rather than C? Saffolds will hold down LG and they are hopong Davis will be the eventual starter at RG...but Jones only has this year left on his contract I think.
dont mind hammer

he doesnt really want a Guard

Logan Ryan is a fine CB but we have Sims sitting around collecting dust.

I'd say let Ryan walk, hes gonna cost $$$ and we can replace his production with Sims or a mid round rookie..

I haven't seen enough of Sims to think he's gonna be as good as Ryan. Plus, we play Ryan in the slot a lot and think Sims is mostly an outside guy. It would not surprise me if they think Hooker MIGHT be able to fill a nickel role in 2020...assuming he's as good as we think he is.

If the difference is $10mil/yr for Ryan or 6+mil/yr for Sims, I'll pay the extra 4mil.

But we are starting to enter the phase where we need to develop 3rd-5th round picks into cheap starters.

Hes going to hit FA as THE Guy at CB next Spring. I just can't see him turning down money. Hes getting old and probably wants to cash in one last time.

Now if he really wants to be here we could technically afford him at his current rate but I just dont see him needing to be here. When he came in he talked about QB play being a big reason for coming here. Now look at our QB, hes way less attractive than he was when Logan came on board

Yeah, I kind of think they may try and keep Logan (at his current rate) and after this year, ask Butler to take a paycut or release/trade him. He played better down the stretch so we'll have to see how he does this year...but a lot of things are riding on a lot of people. Mariota is the biggest one, but Henry and Conklin and Ryan and a slew of others are playing for new contracts so we'll have to see how that goes.

People were saying that about Manziel...and look how that worked out. You can't tank in this league, especially if you have a good team. We have the talent to be a playoff team if people play up to their potential...and the goal during the regular season is to make it into the playoffs. Then you have a chance!!!

Davis, with all that agility, would make a fine C

Yeah, I know at the senior bowl he said he was working on snapping the ball and I personally think that would be his best position. Not sure if the titans see that...but I'd be cross training him at RG and OC, Jones at OC and RG, Conklin at RG and RT, Pamphil at RG and OC and see who's best where.

But I don't think Davis could play there this year (at center) unless they let someone like Saffold make the line calls (which he'd know having played in the same system with the Rams).

Whoa! Who said Menziel was Aaron Rodgers/Andrew Luck type talent?

He'll end up back with the Pats at a lower cost.

Lots of people thought back when he won the Heisman that by the time he left for the NFL he would be the next great qb! I don't get that excited by flash in the pan qb's and one reason why guys like Parcells always wanted qb's who had a lot of college starts.

I'm curious to watch the Henry situation. Let's assume he beasts out. Like contends for the rushing title beast out.

Will we pay big money to an RB? Or just draft another?
