It's not about just this one guy or any one pick.

I just can't wrap my head around the idea that there is only one (or maaaaybe 2) guy in the draft each year who can actually play LT in the NFL. If that were the case, pretty much every team would have the same issue we do. You have to try for 15-20 years to draft a LT? And in the past 4 years we have acquired how many, six? Guys that have played LT in college or in the NFL and none of them can actually play LT? This just seems impossible.

Yes which is why I blame development. Sure you are going to have some misses, but come on, there have been many LTs come through our training camps and none developed. Lewan took a big step back after being busted for PEDs.

Bing-O! Our OL coaching has been terrible . We need to find us a Michael Roos type small school gem forget using prime picks on one.

Thoughts on Donovan Smith…he was good enough for the Chiefs to start all yr…would allow WR in the 1st and then grab a project LT later in the draft

If the Titans shell out $$$ for that bust Becton a lot of people are gonna be unhappy. He was putrid last season, comparable to what the Titans lined up at Left Tackle. A sack surrendering penalty machine, no thanks. I only mention this because he's been linked to the Titans in a lot of projections. The Titans definitely don't need to kick the tires on any more terrible offensive linemen.

What do you all think of Donovan Smith? Started for KC all yr and they won the SB... Is 30yrs old so from an OT standpoint not too long in the tooth.

I think he could be the guy to go after that would allow us to really go BPA in the draft...

Bring in Owenu in FA and it frees a lot of flexibility on the OL. Still need a LT in that scenario, but going WR/LT on our first 2 picks becomes an easier sell.

I disagree unlike Dillard Becton has all the tools to be a great LT or RT.

His rookie season was great his second season he was injured and on his third season he did not got along with coach Keith Carter who we all know sucks at development players or actually coaching OL.

If Bill Callahan signs this I'm in 100%.

No. The Titans don't need to kick the tires on any more projects. They need immediate/proven help. Everyone is beyond tired of the revolving door of an offensive line clownshow. Signing some guy who's struggled with injuries and surrendered the 2nd most sacks in the NFL last season giving up 50 pressures and averaging more than a penalty a game isn't going to remedy the Titans' offensive line woes. If you believe otherwise then you're a fool.

I know nothing about Becton and have not watched him play, so my initial observation is useless. For me, just looking at stats is meaningless, so let’s add a little context.

Becton played on a NYJ team that was allowing 3.8 sacks per game. Keith Carter was in his 1st season as their OL coach there. The 5 years prior to Carter’s arrival, NYJ was allowing 2.78 SPG. Carter was here for 5 long seasons and his OL allowed 2.64 sacks per game (including a season with 1.5 SPG) so not like he was faring much better here than the Jets were doing before him as their coach. He certainly did make them look much worse in his first season at the helm. We were used to coaches like Bruce Matthews (2.06 SPG) and Russ Grimm (2.15 SPG). I have this feeling with Callahan we will see a drop to the low-to-mid 2s as well and with the right players, maybe under 2 SPG.

Finding the right pieces will be key, but let’s not count a player out just because he was playing for a horrible coach!
