I would say above average. Don't underestimate 3 winning seasons with an improving roster each year. We had terrible luck with the injury bug last year and we still went 9-7 in what is now a very competitive division.

It doesn't have to be splashy to be right. The Jags were splashy and it got them one good season. Feels like we're going about it the right way. Can you think of 15 GMs you'd rather have? I can't.

Obviously you can always focus on the misses but he's done a great job turning this sinking ship around. Could he have drafted better? Sure. But everyone can. What Chris Ballard did last year was incredible but you can't expect that every year. JRob has been good and our team is getting better every year, or do you disagree with that?

In addition to solid FAs and Drafts, don't forget he also brought in Vrabel. The jury is obviously still out, but so far, so good.

Again- don’t disagree. Just think that this board easily dismisses the misses. I’ve always maintained JRob is slightly above average GM. And I’ve become accustomed that we won’t spend cap space acquiring playmakers, just depth guys. That’s been this franchise’s way. Don’t have a problem with it. Just reminding folks not to be disappointed when we don’t land the big name FA’s.

You really shouldn't. People are quite aware of how you feel.

We made two deals with quality players for reasonable cost amidst all of the ridiculous money being thrown around. That says something about him.

Agree not to get in cap trouble. But we aren’t even close.

You could not be any more wrong.

Murray was a fantastic move, regardless if he's still on the roster or not.
Matthews, likewise was a great value move, regardless if he's still on the roster or not.
Vaccaro was a great move.

And you fail to mention Ryan and and Jones as great FA signings.

And wasted draft capital? 2016 he got Conklin, Byard, and Henry. 3 high quality starters. Also got Sharpe, Sims, and Johnson who are good depth pieces. That's 6 useful players, 3 of which are quality starters.

2017 - Davis, Jackson, and Brown are high quality starters. Taylor, Smith, and Levin are good depth players. Again, 6 useful players

2018 - Only 4 picks due to trades. Still early, but it appears we again got 3 quality starters with Landry, Evans, and Cruikshank. Falk is a JAG, but he was a 6th rounder, so not concerned.

Edit: Upon further review, Woodyard was a Webster signing. I could have sworn he was a J-Rob signing.

Said I wasn’t going to debate so I’ll just leave it that you should look at the entire draft classes and what the use got us.

Nick Perry is their Derrick Morgan. 4.5 sacks a year, boosted by 11 in one season.

It's amazing how these teams give millions of dollars to guys who aren't very good.
LOL your ideas are always unrealistic for players, Morgan was a fine player for 9 years. Not the super star you dream of getting but a very good pro

Who you want? Name some names.

My point was to remind folks throwing out some big time FA names like AB landing here to prepare to be disappointed. Honestly, I care much less than I used to. I don’t get locked in on any FA’s any more. We only grab depth, and that’s not a bad thing, it just limits our playmakers to draft hits.

3 quality starters in every draft class is extremely impressive. I don't think you quite understand how many teams miss on the 1st round pick every year, and we've hit literally every year he's been GM.

"Playmakers" cost big money in FA, better to draft your own. And 2020 is a huge off season for the Titans.

Assuming he survives 2019 we have mary to re-sign, Byrad, Ryan, Henry, Kelly, maybe even Woodyard... I estimate that would cost about $53M

We have to put money aside otherwise you get another 2004 season.

Fair enough, but not landing playmakers doesn't mean he's not trying. Just doing it the right way. Again, look at how many playmakers the Jags signed. We were in talks for AB. We were down to the last 3 for Suh. The argument can be made that Butler, Vaccaro, and even Humphries are playmakers. People will always hate regardless of whatever happens... He'll either be criticized for not signing (XX) or for overpaying for (YY). He can never win. I choose to focus on the hits, the progress, and the effort... not the misses. Are we perfect? No. Are we moving in the right direction with JRob? Absolutely.

Who have you wanted, that would of choosen us over competition, and be reasonably priced? Or who would you like to overpay for? Who would you trade for?

So far, i'm very happy with Vaccaro and Humphries.

Yes it’s not ideal. I expect either Mariota or Byard will end up getting tagged.

Lewis was a pretty big signing last year. Butler was even bigger. Neither were depth.

Fans here thought both were a JRob home run when it happened.

Ehhhh lot of folks didn’t like the Butler signing when it happened.

I’m not advocating signing top money players just to do it. I pointed out those folks who wanted us to sign big players like AB should be prepared to be disappointed.

Been hearing this every year as a rationalization for not spending.
